I was expecting this to be a bit burlier. The stays that hold the rack to the crossbars are made of plastic and I wonder if they'll hold up in the cold. The straps are also a similar plastic. The rack doesn't come with a lock which is annoying. The actual lock they sell is flimsy. It takes about fifty turns to clamp the jaws on or off the down tube. It would make sense for the rack to prevent your handlebars from turning left or right, but it doesn't, at least on a 29 inch bike.

I am very happy with the Yakima Raptor Bike rack. Easy to install the rack and real quick to get the bike up and locked in place. My only complaint would be that I purchased the bike rack which did not have a locking mechanism included - so I have to use my bike lock to secure my bike to the roof rack if I leave it unattended for long.

the yakima bike was very easy to assemble, install, and easy to use. i would definitly recommend this to anyone looking for a roof mount rack.

the only problem i have with this rack is this, the manual says "not for carbon frames", I have both, carbon and non. so going to call yakima to figure out if that's just a silly warning or a real deal.
