Plus, you get the Stinger Swinger hitch adaptor, so you can connect the Thule Doubletrack to either a 2” or a 1.25” receiver hitch.

When you’re not toting your 2-wheelers, just hit the Hitch Switch quick release lever and your Thule 990 Doubletrack 2 Bike Hitch Mount Rack folds up flush with your ride’s rear end. You get room to carry up to 2 bikes at a time, and your Thule bike rack is backed by a Lifetime Warranty.

I purchased this bike rack based on the many reviews that I read online, and am very happy with my purchase. I previously transported my bikes with an OSI hitch mounted bike rack. While the OSI was probably a more secure bike rack, I damaged the front suspension fork on my mountain bike with the OSI rack because the tires were hanging too low when I entered a driveway -- the tires made contact with the ground due to the angle when driving up the driveway. This rack is far easier to load bikes and keeps the bikes higher off the ground. Since it is a tray rack, the bike tires cannot hit the ground -- if anything, the bike rack would scrape the ground on a steep angle driveway approach and not the bike tires. Also, this rack does not wobble like my OSI rack. I highly recommend this bike rack.

This was exactly what we wanted. It was shipped very quickly!! and was as expected. We used this on a trip last weekend, and it worked out perfect for us. I drive an Infiniti G37 and was worried about the size but it was proportionate. I would recommend this highly.

We have two old style bikes (think fat tire Schwinns) with wide handlebars and electric assist motors. The Doubletrack hitch was the only one that accommodated both bikes. Thank you Thule.

Reviewed by Regina C (Bakersfield, CA) 2005 Scion xB — Apr 25, 2011 8:40 PM
I bought this particular rack for the ease of placing my heavy cruiser on it. The less I have to lift my bike the better. I found this rack that would fit my 2005 xB and all the other criteria, such as low height to lift my bike onto and would fit my hitch. I only have two issues with it. Because my car sets low to begin with, and the hitch even lower, I wish this bike rack didn't set so far out from my car. It seems as though it could have set up to 4" closer to my car (without bringing my bike so close as to touch the car). As it is, I have a very difficult time with driveways and dips and such. Lastly, although the rack works very nicely when it comes to racking and securing my bikes, I am nervous about the plastic levers and tracking on the rack. Experience has taught me that plastic doesn't last as long as metal parts. I am pretty sure that once the plastic breaks, it will be the end of the rack. I seriously doubt any of these parts are replaceable. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this bike rack will last a good long time.

I'm very happy with my Thule bike rack. It's convenient and easy to put the bikes on the rack. I like the lower part and not having to lift up the bikes so high.
