Description

More often than not, if you’re hauling your bikes, you’re also hauling along other gear. Coolers, first-aid kits, tire pumps—there’s a lot of essential stuff you won’t want to leave at home. But, you’re going to fight tooth and nail with a traditional hitch mount bike rack to access your cargo area. All that’s changed with the Advantage SportsRack GlideAway 4-Bike Rack.

When you need to grab something from your cargo area or trunk, just pulls back on the GlideAway bike rack. Its accordion-style base opens up, creating plenty of space between your cargo door and your bikes. Plus, your Advantage SportsRack GlideAway pivots to the side for even more access when you need it.

Built sturdy from square tube steel, your GlideAway 4-Bike Rack has the muscle to hold your bikes steady. The built-in cradles keep a firm grip on your frame without scratching the finish, and they adjust to work with a wide range of bikes. Available for both 1.25” and 2” hitch receivers and backed by a Lifetime Warranty.

The overall quality of the rack is good but we had 3 straps break on us in our first trip with our four bikes (that is why I gave a "fair" rating on quality). We ended up having to bungee the bikes to make them secure (after we stopped on the freeway to find 3 broken straps). I love the glide feature of the rack because it gives us plenty of room to get into the truck of our SUV. I would have a hard time recommending this rack to others, however, due to the poor strap quality.

Easy installation, Does the job of carrying 2 bikes, probably not so with four. Bike attachment cradle and straps a bit behind the times. As others have mentioned the straps would be easy to loose if left on the rack without a bike. On MB Sprinter/Roadtrek

I just used this bike rack for the first time. I had 2 adult bikes (boy/girl) and 2 kid bikes (small / medium boy bikes). I was able to assemble the rack without any issues and was able to get all 4 bikes loaded after spending 5-10 minutes figuring out the best orientation. I was able to open the rear glass without extending the rack, but not all the way with the bikes on due to handle bar interference. I was able to open the rear door with all 4 bikes loaded, but had to pivot the rack right/left to avoid the handle bars of the front bike. The large wing-nut becomes difficult to loosen with the bikes loaded if completely tightened down, otherwise will loosen up a little if not completely tight, but not a real concern on our 700 mile trip. No problems with wobble, suggest the threaded hitch lock as there was not any easy way to lock a cable to the bike rack and allow slack to extend the rack without removing the cable.

This bike rack was extremely easy to install and is very sturdy. Holds four bikes with no problem and glidesaway fully loaded with one hand. Rack seems extremely well built and I have worries about taking a long road trip with my bikes on this rack.

The bike rack is easy to put together and to install on the hitch. It is a heavy rack so some people may need assistance with putting it on the hitch.

This is the first bike rack I've purchased. But I have one problem. My Childrens bikes won't fit in grips, the bars on bikes are to wide.I didn't relalize that; it's probably made just for mountain bikes. Because my bike fits just fine. Only problem is I can't take kids bike on trips. I have SUV.

Shipping was on time and quick. This rack is very durable and obviously well-made. I was a little nervous about something with so many moving parts being flimsy, but that is not the case with this rack. In fact after you assemble it you might need help getting it onto your vehicle and once there, it's not something you'll want to take off every day. The instructions for assembly weren't the easiest to follow, but a little common sense will get you there. I had to reconfigure some of the flat washers at the articulation points with the cotter pins, as there are 2 different thicknesses and only the thinner one will work. It also listed the wrong size of the bolt for the anti-wobble component and you need to plan on having an 11/16" socket as a crescent wrench wouldn't fit on mine with the type of hitch I have. But it's on now and I am very happy.
