Thule Helium Hitch Bike Rack Customer Reviews

Lugging your bikes to the trails no longer has to be a headache. The Thule Helium Hitch Bike Rack makes transporting your 2-wheelers a cinch with its ultra-light weight, folding hitch design.
Weighing less than half of a traditional bike carrier, the Thule Helium Hitch Bike Rack is easy to mount to any 1.25” or 2” receiver hitch. Simply lift it up to your hitch, tighten the receiver knob and you’re ready to go—no tools or heavy lifting required.
Concerned Thule’s hitch bike rack can’t handle your precious mountain bike and your kid’s SpongeBob bike? Don’t be—the narrow cradle arms hold bikes with various frame sizes. What’s more, your bikes are protected from unwanted nicks and scratches with stable T3 Cradles and a patented No-Sway Cage that inhibit your bikes from clanging together. When not in use, the Hitch Switch folds the arms down and tilts the carrier away from the vehicle for full truck, hatch or tailgate access.
Choose from a 2 or 3-bike carrier depending on your cycling needs. What’s more, Thule backs your Helium Hitch Bike Rack with a Lifetime Warranty.

I ordered the 970XT rack for two bikes. Easy to set up and install. Very sturdy by easy to handle because it is made out of aluminum. Tilts away from the vehicle and the top rack tilts down when not in use. This one is a bit more expensive than some, but you get two very valuable features: you get the anti-sway bracket and the built in lock cable that would cost you $80-90 if you add them latter. The unit has a secure locking knob that puts a real tight clamp on the receive. Great rack.

This replaced heavy old Yakima. I'm a small 65yr woman and can handle this easily. Put it together myself quickly. I have a Rav4 with tire on back. When I use a hitch extension I can open rear door enough to let my 95lb dog have easy access even when rack is loaded. Rav4 rear door opens from side-to-side so I don't know how a top-lift door would work. When I am not carrying dogs, the rack without extension still clears the tire cover. Bike seems secure

Received the bike rack drop shipped from Thule. I tried to put it together using the instructions provided. These instructions were a bit vague, but I was able to figure them out eventually. There was a part that allows the rack to be lowered so that the car rear gate could be opened. This part was not properly checked at the factory and a bolt had to be removed to disassemble the lever and then reassembled to correct the problem. The remainder of the assembly was without problems. It is a light rack which makes insertion and removal a breeze.

We recently drove 400 miles roundtrip using this rack on our 2011 Prius. In fact I bought it specifically for this trip. It's light and easy to attach to the hitch and remove. Secondly, I bought it so my wife could take our daughter bike riding when she wants, instead of me having to lift the bikes on the roof rack of our Subaru.

This bike rack is perfect and comes as advertised. The quality is superior and the components make it quite light and very manageable. Now that I have the Thule Helium Rack, I tend to compare it with racks I see on other vehicles and notice how much better in quality it really is. With the locks for the rack where it attaches to the hitch and the lock to secure the bike to the rack, I feel comfortable leaving them on the car for extended perioda of time without worring that they won't be there when I return. The tie down system also secures the bike to the rack very well. All in all, I'm very glad I purchased the Thule Helium Hitch Bike Rack and would strongly recommend it to others.

It went together fairly easily and seems very well built. Bought it to carry 3 womens bikes. They do not have a straight top frame and thus hang at an angle but seem ok. It is also a tight fit for the bikes but we are happy with it. Like the built in cable lock too.

About the Thule Helium- will it work with both 1 1/4 and 2”? It seems to indicate it will work with either 1 1/4" or 2" - an adapter is included. Yes?
