The cool thing is on the Honda Ridgleine, you can swing the tailgate open and just slide the cover over without removing the straps. The front tires do touch the rear bumper still, so I put a strip of clear paint protection film there to prevent scuffing the paint.

I like the Softride Tailgate Pad. Delivery time was excellent. Packaging was easy to open. Quality of the product was excellent. I had a little difficulty figuring out how to strap it on, but trial and error worked. Illustrated instructions would be a plus and save dummies like me a little time. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase.

It looks great and works like it is supposed to. Easy to install. We leave ours on all the time. Wish there was one strap that locked it to the tailgate as a theft deterrent. I had the top of the line Thule Platform hitch bike rack on the jeep that our Frontier replaced. We loved it, and would still be using it if we didn't have a truck bed. This is much better than any bike rack We put the bikes in, and ratchet them down in a couple of minutes. They are so secure and don't move at all whether hitting bumps of any kind. We bought the large for my 59" tailgate. I have to fold the inside under at the edges to make sure it doesn't get caught in the tailgate when I shut it. If you open and close yours all the time you might want to tuck it under permanently, or go with the smaller cover. They are well made and the cover is made of a sturdy vinyl. Much better than just putting a rubber Matt over the tailgate. I received great customer service from auto-anything, and it arrived in about three days.

I've only used the tailgate pad once so far, but was very pleased. I transported 3 bicycles to a bike shop for spring maintenance. I did have to remove the front tires because I didn't like the pressure the tailgate of the Ridgeline put on the front tire. I was worried that it would make the front tire go out of round. Other than that, the pad was easy to install and remove from the tailgate - I didn't want to leave it on for fear of theft. I should be able to transport 5 bicycles easily - don't know if I would be able to get the 6th one in or not due to the shorter truck bed. I am hoping the pad is durable and will last, but only time will tell on that. Overall, I am very pleased! For the price, it was a good choice for my needs.

What I bought this for was to haul around my beach cruisers. Unfortunately, however, it is a very poor means of transportation for the bikes. They are very unstable when hanging over the tailgate of my truck. The straps do very little to secure the bikes in place when driving on the highway/freeway. I am also very upset that the straps featured in the picture are not the ones that I received in the mail. I got some crummy looking black straps, and not the vibrant blue ones with the logo on them. In fact the straps seem to be completely wrong for the design to hold down a bike properly. OVERALL I RATE THIS A VERY POOR PRODUCT. A waste of MONEY!! $$
