Bike Clamp needs work

While I'm generally satisfied with the hitch- its solidity and swing away function, the means of clamping down the bikes is an anything but quick release. For a four bike mount there are three knobs that must be twisted down at the same time to avoid binding. While designed to accomodate fat tubed bikes, my standard tube frames took considerable time to tighten. With a mix of sizes, one would have to shim the thinner frames in order to have both be clamped tight. It is also very necessary to have both an auxiliarly strap to tie the bikes to the vertical frame (to prevent them from swinging forward and backward)and another strap from bike(s)to car frame to prevent them from rocking side to side. I found it to be an acceptable rack for a long distance and rough roads. Not recommended for a quick "toss on the bike and drive somewhere for a quick ride" usage.

Nicely built rack but I wished I had shopped some other models. The mechanism that actually secures the bikes to the rack (three bolts) is very time consuming and cumbersome to use.It really needs a more user friendly quick release setup of some sort.

The OSI bike rack I purchased is what I expected with the exception of two minor flaws. First, the amount of work necessary to screw in and take off the top plate is significant. If you are just going on a short trip, this is a time consuming and arduous task. Secondly, the rack wiggles slightly in my hitch. This may be because I need an extender for my 2005 Range Rover hitch. Otherwise, I like the rack and would order it again.

Limited swing & poor locking device

I have an F250 and the swing away doesn't swing away far enough to open the tail gate. Also the locking mechanism is not "quick" locking.
