RockyMounts Tandem Mount R4 Roof Bike Rack Reviews

Solid but not secure

Reviewed By Lawrence L (FREDERICK, CO) Reviewed for a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe —9/11/2014 7:55 AM

We mounted the rack with the forks to the rear so we could open the hatchback. The tandem is held very secure. Only issue we have is that the rack and bike cannot be secured. The forks cannot be locked and the rack does not lock to the roof rack. As a work around we purchased Tri-Groove Tamper-Resistant Nuts from McMaster-Carr, including the socket and shipping this added almost another $50. For locking the bike when we stop we add a good cable lock from the roof rack to the bike.

First Impressions

The Softride Access Dura 4-Bike Rack was quite easy to install well made fit and finish. I have used it once since purchasing. The rubber straps used to secure the bike are a bear to cinch down as you need the grip strength of a gorilla to pull down and stretch the hole in the strap over the cleat. Pro Series Q-Slot Hitch Mount Bike Rack Reviews

Weak thumbs, 75.

Reviewed By darrell r (bountiful, UT) Reviewed for a 2006 Hyundai Azera —5/15/2014 10:15 PM

The rack is better than I could have imagined. Have had one accident with no damage when I did not tighten the plastic wing nut enough. The bike did not hit the ground as the wheels were held by the loops. A larger serrated wheel instead of the wing nut would be easier for weak hands. I now spend time and effort to get it tight.
