Awesome and easy to install!

Reviewed By Paula M (Columbus, GA) Reviewed for a 2010 Toyota RAV4 —12/30/2013 4:26 AM

We have two bikes and our new Thule 963Pro Spare Me Tire Bike Rack is perfect. Easy to install. We worked together and had it ready to use in less than five minutes. The adapter was necessary for the ladies bike. We keep our straps in the car when we aren't transporting our bikes.

SpareJoe on RAV4

Reviewed By Gary W (Sequim, WA) Reviewed for a 2007 Toyota RAV4 —9/12/2008 8:55 AM

I purchased this rack for my 2007 Toyota Rav4 based on Yakima's product selection guide. The guide said this product would work on my car, but my tire size was larger than their specification. I took a chance and ordered the product. This unit is designed for 15" tires, mine are 17", but I was still able to make it work. The lower arm of the rack did not rest against the bottom of the tire. It hit the rim of the tire. I purchased some 7/8" inside diameter rubber pipe insulation from Home Depot and cut it to length. I attached it to the bottom of the lower arm, and the rack works great. The instructions say it's very easy to adjust the support arms with the rack mounted. This is not true. Once you set the arms, don't try to adjust them with the rack mounted. The rack is very easy to remove and reinstall.

Great for my first bike rack

Reviewed By Katherine P (Wesley Chapel, FL) 2003 —8/9/2006 3:57 AM

Since I've never had a bike rack before, I cannot compare this to other experiences. It installed easily enough, I did need another hand at one point, but it was fairly straightforward. I am a short woman and yet find that I can lift the bike on and off without much trouble. I feel secure with the 2 locks - one on the rack where it mounts to the car and one where the bike sits. It does wobble slightly in the junction between the vertical bar and the horizontal bracket that extends from the tire. It seems easy enough to put a stunt in there. I have left it alone for now and it is not an issue so far...figuring that may be the design, having some play. We'll see. Happy with the rack!
