I am very pleased with this mount and would recommend it to anyone who has the obstacle of a spare tire to get around. The 4 sets of cradles that hold the bicycles swivel independently from the rest of the bars. This has been very helpful in securing youth bikes and mountain bikes that have nontraditional frames. Other bike mounts cannot accommodate these bike styles so easily.

The Spare MeT is not designed to fit the spare holder on a 1999 Isuzu Trooper, although you led us to believe that was the case. The problem: bolts don't protrude from the Trooper's spare mount, as shown in the installation instructions. Instead, our bolts inserted *into* the mount. Thus, it was necessary to hold tire and Spare MeT mount together _against_ the Trooper's spare mount. Pretty difficult, considering all that weight. The process took two people, lots of cussing, and a trick, which is too hard to describe. Now that it's mounted, we are quite happy with it's efficiency. Taking the Spare MT off will be much more difficult, we fear, and we dread our first flat.

Since I've never had a bike rack before, I cannot compare this to other experiences. It installed easily enough, I did need another hand at one point, but it was fairly straightforward. I am a short woman and yet find that I can lift the bike on and off without much trouble. I feel secure with the 2 locks - one on the rack where it mounts to the car and one where the bike sits.It does wobble slightly in the junction between the vertical bar and the horizontal bracket that extends from the tire. It seems easy enough to put a stunt in there. I have left it alone for now and it is not an issue so far...figuring that may be the design, having some play. We'll see.Happy with the rack!

We have had the chance to use our new bike rack for one trip. The trip was a long one (9 hours) and the rack worked wonderfully on our Honda CR-V the entire trip. In addition the shipping was very speedy and the service was great.
