This rack is very sturdy but with sturdiness comes heft. At 45lbs, it's not the lightest rack on the market but it feels very stable even without the stabilizing strap. I have plenty if clearance to open the trunk without having to use the tilting feature . I gotta knock a point off for not having keyed hooks to prevent theft, but the fact that it comes with a bike cable and a locking hitch pin standard makes it worth the price difference between the XTC.

I like this bike rack very much. It is sturdy and with the included anti sway bolt it feels very secure. It is a little hard to store as it does not fold up into a small package. My only real complaint is that I can't quite get the lock bar to go low enough to securely hold my wife's bike. I guess I will have to buy the bar attachment for this. A $30.00 item.

heavy duty and solid, quality made, secures bikes very well, I was worried about not being able to replace the wheel straps, but they can be replaced as each straps has their own small bolt and nut. it is surprising very heavy due to steel construction. worked well with prius and keeps bike pedals away from paint job. hitch I used is made by curt, also highly recommended.

My brother-in-law has the Thule T2 which I was interested in but was about $170 more. Read good things about the G2 so thought I would give new model a try. The one I received did not have the green tire holders like the image (they are grey). It took awhile to set up properly but works great. Directions have 1 confusing step with the bar, but I figured it out. One bad thing is it hits my trunk (Fusion 2010) if I try to store it upright while on hitch.

Have not yet used the rack but have assembled and ready to go. Material is of substance thus seems very sturdy and I like the "shoes" for the tires rather than just dangling the bike. Since plan on using primarily for only 1 bike I thought best to load it in rack closest to car so also reversed position on 'holding' bar to allow more room. Did not install 2nd rack to reduce weight/dimensions. Install photos/directions are very poor.
