Tail-Gator Truck Tailgate Bike Rack Reviews

Reviewed by Sailesh B (Tucson, AZ) — 2010-12-21 21:27:45

The Tail-Gator delivers as advertised.I would add the following improvements considering it is rather expensive at a minimum. 1.The straps should be beefier even though they perform well at this time. The serrated metal stays in the brackets could easily chew these up longer term. Kevlar would be ideal but pricey I suppose. 2. The bottom black strap could not be figured out. I had to stabilize the Gator using the red safety strap fixed to the tailgate bottom. 3. I worry about the strength of the end plastic caps; a metal stop welded with a bigger lip would be a no brainer. This is important considering a possible failure of the plastic bike holding retainers. 4. The plastic bike retainers are held in place with awkwardly placed phillips screws. Bad design in my opinion, they should have metal quick release retainers with positive locking and a backup safety like bike wheels or something more solid with easy adjust and lock features. 5. Finally I would replace the manual strap tighteners with small tie down type ratchet adjusters. this is a no brainer too. This could be a superior product if these changes are incorporated. Sal

Softride Shuttle Pad Truck Tailgate Pad Reviews

Reviewed by David J C (Beulah, CO) Reviewed for a 2010 Honda Ridgeline — 2011-05-04 08:14:46

I've only used the tailgate pad once so far, but was very pleased. I transported 3 bicycles to a bike shop for spring maintenance. I did have to remove the front tires because I didn't like the pressure the tailgate of the Ridgeline put on the front tire. I was worried that it would make the front tire go out of round. Other than that, the pad was easy to install and remove from the tailgate - I didn't want to leave it on for fear of theft. I should be able to transport 5 bicycles easily - don't know if I would be able to get the 6th one in or not due to the shorter truck bed. I am hoping the pad is durable and will last, but only time will tell on that. Overall, I am very pleased! For the price, it was a good choice for my needs.

INNO Velo Gripper Truck Bed Bike Rack Reviews

Reviewed by Mike M (Merced, CA) Reviewed for a 2006 Chevy C/K 2500 — 2011-05-02 21:56:17

I really like the idea that you do not have to take wheel off to haul your bike. best idea I seen or researched on the internet. Simple to install, the bike is very secure and gives you plenty of space in the rest of the bed of truck. Great locking system for the bike and rack. I now can haul my bike and kayak in the truck bed at the same time.
