Yakima StickUp Bike Rack Reviews

We bought this bike rack to put on the back of our Tacoma. It installed easily. It operates flawlessly. I wish the wheel holders were metal instead of a plastic material, but that's the way it goes. I think it will prove durable, although I do wonder about the effects of the hot San Diego summer sun on those plastic wheel holders. All in all, we are very satisfied with the StickUp bike rack.

Yakima SuperJoe Bike Rack Reviews

The Yakima SuperJoe Bike Rack is the greatest bike rack for the money hands down. A little history: I purchased an Allen Deluxe Trunk Mount Bike Carrier - 3 Bikes 103DB from Walmart since we had just bought 3 bikes. We set our sights on traveling 30 minutes to a bike trail. We didn't even make it out of our complex with this bike rack when it collapsed. Turns out, the little bracket was slipping out, causing the weight of the bikes to collapse onto the trunk. BUT, the Yakima SuperJoe Bike Rack is far more superior than the Allen bike rack. It's easy to install, very sturdy and is a quality product. I would buy this again if we needed another bike rack. Thanks Autoanything.com!

Yakima KingJoe Bike Rack Reviews

Reviewed by David S (Grand Junction, CO) — 2008-09-15 14:59:43

I bought the Yakima King Joe 3 for use on my 2006 Scion xB, and so far I am quite pleased. With six straps, the rack is held tightly against the lift gate, but after the initial adjustment, I only need to loosen or tighten one strap slightly to remove or install the rack. The bikes are supported on the undersurface of the top tube, and one mount is designed to fit in the acute angle between the top tube and the down tube, which helps control sway during breaking and acceleration. The rubber straps grab the bikes securely, and I have no problem with bikes hitting each other or the car. Mounts can be moved fore or aft on the horizontal support bars as necessary. Ridges on the mounts are thoughtfully placed so that cables below the top tube are not pressed against the frame. The quick release feature at the pivot points allows easy adjustment for different car configurations and folding of the unit for storage. I attach an old pedal strap between the down tube and the front wheel to keep the fork from rotating. This rack works best for road bikes and other bikes with a conventional diamond frame and a straight or nearly straight top tube. For mountain bikes with complex rear suspensions and deeply dipping top tubes, mounting can be problematic due to lack of satisfactory contact points, and a roof rack may be more appropriate. Except for the caveat above, the design and function of this rack is excellent, and I would buy it again.

This is one solid bike rack. So easy to use; putting on and taking off your bikes is a breeze. I would recommend this to anyone, especially those who have used the other type of bike racks. It is a little heavy with the +2 option but well worth it. Autoanything.com had the best prices

Yakima Raptor Bike Rack Reviews

I am very happy with the Yakima Raptor Bike rack. Easy to install the rack and real quick to get the bike up and locked in place. My only complaint would be that I purchased the bike rack which did not have a locking mechanism included - so I have to use my bike lock to secure my bike to the roof rack if I leave it unattended for long.

Yakima SpareJoe Bike Rack Reviews

Reviewed by Gary W (Sequim, WA) Reviewed for a 2007 Toyota RAV4 — 2008-09-12 08:55:59

I purchased this rack for my 2007 Toyota Rav4 based on Yakima's product selection guide. The guide said this product would work on my car, but my tire size was larger than their specification. I took a chance and ordered the product. This unit is designed for 15" tires, mine are 17", but I was still able to make it work. The lower arm of the rack did not rest against the bottom of the tire. It hit the rim of the tire. I purchased some 7/8" inside diameter rubber pipe insulation from Home Depot and cut it to length. I attached it to the bottom of the lower arm, and the rack works great. The instructions say it's very easy to adjust the support arms with the rack mounted. This is not true. Once you set the arms, don't try to adjust them with the rack mounted. The rack is very easy to remove and reinstall.
