As a tailgate pad to support your bike and protect your tailgate, the pad works fine. I have found that it supports 2 bikes better than one. If only one bike, the bike will eventually tip and not remain upright. The main drawback with the pad is that the flap for the tailgate handle does not like up with the handle on my truck (Toyota Tacoma) and it completely blocks the backup camera. Which means the pad cannot be secured to the tailgate and can only be used intermittently.

This Yakima crashpad work great. It allow me to easily place to bikes in bed of truck. I drive a 2017 tacoma with 5 foot bed. This product allows me to transport bikes upright in truck bed.
