Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will I get a car bra that's custom-made for my vehicle?

All of the car, truck, SUV, van and mini van bras we offer are custom-made to precisely fit your year, make, model and sub-model. Our expertly-designed bras allow complete access under your hood, unobstructed use of your pop-up headlights and full function of your factory fog or driving lights.

Custom-made car bras for perfect fitmentIn fact, some of our car bras are made-to-order at the factory, where they're expertly-sewn to the precise measurements, lines and curves of your vehicle. The result with these custom original car bras is a skin-tight protector for your sensitive paint.

Custom fitting is an important feature of a car bra. If a car bra doesn't fit properly, bubbling or flapping can occur, which may damage your vehicle's finish. We only offer fully-customized car bras for this reason.

2. How will my car bra attach to my vehicle?

HooksBecause each bra we feature is custom-designed, they will attach to each individual car, truck, SUV, van or minivan in a different way for a precise fit. Generally, each car bra uses vinyl-coated fasteners or hooks to latch onto your hood and wheel well. These hooks are soft and won't scratch or otherwise mark your paint. Some car bras may also incorporate Velcro fasteners in their mounting system.

3. How long will it take to put a car bra on my vehicle?

The first time you put your bra on your vehicle, it may take up to 20 minutes or longer to install. Once you get some practice, though, putting your bra on or taking your bra off your vehicle will get faster-possibly down to just a few minutes.

Car bras install quicklyBecause of the heavy-duty vinyl materials used in your car bra's construction and the custom-fitted design, the fit will be somewhat tight at first. It's best to install your bra on a warm day, or leave your bra out in the sun for about 20 minutes before installing. This leaves the material more pliable for stretching over your ride.

If you're installing on a cold or cloudy day, a simple home hair dryer can heat-up the vinyl for extra flexibility, reducing your stretching strain.

4. Is there any difference between a car bra and a car mask?

5. What is the difference between original car bras and all-weather car bras?

All weather perforationsEach of the bras we offer is made of durable vinyl. Our all-weather car bras have micro-perforated vinyl, making the car bra more breathable. If your all-weather car bra gets wet, these tiny holes in the bra's exterior allow trapped moisture to evaporate. Because of these holes, all-weather car bras will dry as you drive.

Original car bras are not micro-perforated. They can still be driven in the rain, but should be removed and allowed to dry before reinstallation.

6. What if my car bra gets wet?

Generally, wet car bras should be removed and allowed to dry before reinstallation. A wet car bra left on the vehicle may trap water between the bra and your paint, causing the bra to mold or mildew after prolonged saturation. Allowing your car bra to dry is part of proper bra care.

Some of the car bras we offer are all-weather car bras, made for use in any weather condition. These bras are made of a breathable vinyl that allows your car bra to dry-out while you drive. For the most part, they can be left on the vehicle when wet.

However, all-weather bras can also mold or mildew if they remain installed wet and not driven for a prolonged period of time. Removing a wet all-weather car bra is recommended if you don't plan on driving your car for a couple of days.

Rain and other wetness won't ruin your car bra or paint if the bra is removed and allowed to dry before reinstallation. You should only install your car bra when both your bra and your vehicle are dry.

7. Can I wash my car with my car bra installed?

Washing your vehicle with your car bra installed is generally not recommended. It is possible to wash your vehicle while leaving your all-weather car bra installed, as long as you have time to drive around and allow your bra to dry.

Remove your car bra before washingMost manufacturers recommend removing your car bra when washing your vehicle. This is the best way to be sure no road dust or dirt is trapped between your bra and your vehicle. It's also a perfect time to clean the underside of your car bra. Trapped dirt and dust between your bra and your vehicle could be harmful to your paint.

8. What is the best way to clean my car bra?

11. What if I get the car bra and it does not fit my vehicle?

Chances are that closely following the instructions and warming-up your new car bra first will help you get the exact, "like a glove" fit of our custom car bras.

Pay special attention to the installation instructions enclosed with your new car bra. Because of the heavy-duty vinyl materials used in your car bra's construction and the custom-fitted design, installing will be somewhat tight. It's best to install your bra on a warm day, or leave your bra out in the sun for about 20 minutes before installing. This leaves the material more pliable for stretching over your ride.

Proper fitment is our goalDouble check that the car bra you ordered is the correct bra for your year, make, model and sub-model. If you did not order the correct model, or did not receive the correct model, see our return procedure for more information.

Please note that all of our custom car bras are designed with factory vehicles in mind. AutoAnything cannot guarantee that fog/ditch light openings in the car bra will match after-market and non-manufacturer fog and ditch lamps.
