In 1960, upholsterer Bill Colgan hand-made a revolutionary soft, front-end shield for protecting Porsche’s new 356 while it whizzed around the test track. 45 years later, Colgan’s Custom Original Car Bra is still made by hand, performing better than any other car bra on the market.
Colgan's UV-resistant 100% virgin vinyl—the heaviest in the industry—is even milled exclusively to company’s highest standards. It resists fading in the sun, shrinkage in heat and stiffness in bitter cold. Plus, it’s backed by a finish-pampering layer of thick flannel that’s integrated into the vinyl to prevent separation. This cozy lining keeps your paint scratch-free while the flow-through screen across your grille still lets your engine breathe.
Hand-made to the specs of your vehicle from multiple pieces of vinyl, the Colgan Custom Original Car Bra delivers the best possible “memory” fit with no harmful flapping at any speed. The Colgan Custom Original Car Bra fits factory headlamps and won’t keep you from opening and closing your hood.
Whether you want a little or a lot of front-end protection, there’s an Original Car Bra for you. Trucks and SUVs get the full front-end bra with or without a T-style hood piece, or the T-style piece by itself. What’s more, choose between a classic Black or ultra-modern Carbon Fiber finish.
When you want proven protection from the folks that started it all, the choice is Colgan. Plus, your Custom Original Car Bra comes backed by a 3-year warranty.

The bra itself was well made and fit very well after we got done with the installation. The bottom part instructions were very confusing, even for the body shop tech how finally figured out how to install it after 20 minutes! The pictures were of no help at all! Good luck!

Need this twice a year to protect my new Black MB from the Lovebugs that attack the paint twice a year in Florida. Nice and tight. No flapping in the wind. The hood is a little hard to close due to the thickness of the two pieces meeting at the side fenders but does its job!!

This is a high quality product. It was a little hard to put on. It took 2 people to stretch it across from side to side and couldn't find a place to hook onto inside the fender so we drilled a hole in the plastic liner. I didn't call tech support so they may have been able to help with the installation but overall I would highly recommend this product

This bra comes with stiff bendable tabs to clip onto the wheel well. Not really bad but on the Z4 you have to remove the inner wheel well splash guard to install this way. This makes the install take longer than expected. I then used wide washers when re-installing the wheel well splash guard for extra holding strength. This works well. The bra is taut and looks good with no wrinkles. Add 2 hours to your expectations for installs.

Will this cover fit with splash guards on the vehicle?
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 19, 2013 8:01 AM
Hi, Since your splash guards are on the rear portion of the wheel wells and the bra attaches to the front of the wheel well, the cover will fit just fine.

Hi, The Carbon Fiber has a woven "carbon fiber" appearance. The standard model is your tradition leather appearance material.

Do most people purchase the carbon fiber? I don't think I've ever seen one up close.
Answered by Nathan S. — Jul 30, 2012 1:39 PM
To be honest, most people prefer the traditional black Colgan bras. I have seen the carbon fiber appearance product and they do look nice. They are just new to the scene and will certainly turn heads.

If I want to wash the car or when it is rain season, do I need to remove it? How difficult it that to do that every week?
Answered by Nathan S. — May 24, 2012 10:56 AM
I would recommend removing the bra as the cleaners at car washes can be harsh. Also, you dont want to risk having water trapped under the bra due to the high pressure sprayers used. Installation should be very easy as the Colgan bra will stretch to some degree over time.

How come the the Bra is one piece...Anyone can steal it...7 no S hooks to keep it tight...To open my hood, I have to remove the whole bra...What's up with that???
Answered by Robert S. — May 17, 2012 8:13 AM 1985 BMW 5-Series
Then ,what does hand made to specs of the car mean?? If not custom fitted the bra will flap in the wind while in motion! It needs adjustment straps to keep it tight. I've had bra in the past, with no problems like this one, Why because there was adjustment straps ,s-hooks,two piece contruction for security...Please help a guy out!!
flagAnswered by Nathan S. — May 15, 2012 3:11 PM 1985 BMW 5-Series
It could be due to a lack of mounting points on the underside of the hood or lack of clearance depending on the gap between the hood and front fenders.

2006 Dodge Charger R/T, Has anyone encountered problems when attaching the bra to the fender well openings? Thanks in advance!

We dont hear of any problems attaching the car bra to the fenderwell openings, however we do advise customers to let the Colgan bra to warm up in the sun to make it more flexible, easing installation.

Answered by Nathan S. — May 15, 2012 3:14 PM 1985 BMW 5-Series
The Colgan is one of the top car bras on the market and can withstand weather quite well. The Lebra is a quality brand, but the Colgan is an upgrade.

I am worried that this car bra might scratch my paint. I have never purchased one before and wanted to get some feedback from anyone who has.
Answered by Mitch O — Feb 27, 2012 12:05 PM 2010 Toyota Venza
won't scratch since the hooks are covered with material but since the hooks are metal and if the material were to tear or wear, then there can be rust to the fender or a scratch when putting it on. Just be sure that it never tears or the coating on the hooks remain coated. Just be careful when stretching and observe the hooks when installing/re-installing and you should be fine for years and years.

Does it have the opening for the nose air scoop? Do you have an image of it?
Answered by Trevor K — Oct 28, 2010 8:19 PM 2010 BMW 5-Series
if the vehicle has a nose scoop Colgan's bra has a cut out for it, otherwise there will be a mesh grille that goes over it. normally there is a cut-out though. i unfortunately do not have a picture but I'm sure someone will post it eventually.
