"we just bought a house on the west coast of Florida and wanted the liner to prevent sand from the beach getting all over the cargo area of our bmw x5. The liner is great because it just slides out, and can easily be hosed down."

Weathertech Durango Cargo Liner (Full Area)
Posted on 09/15/2005 by Rick B. - 2005 Dodge Durango (Mahtomedi,MN)
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
"After extensive research my purchase was narrowed to two liners; Weathertech (a big rubbery mat) and Hatchbag (a coated fabric that protects everything including the sides).
The ease installing/removing the liner ended up to play the deciding role on which to purchase. If it is a pain to use, it won't get used. I am protecting the area from 3 big dogs after swimming and running through the woods. The carpet and folded down seat backs were my main areas to protect.
Weathertech pros: Easy in/out, waterproof, no way for sand to infiltrate the areas between the folded seats due to the fact it is a single piece (unlike the crappy OEM one which I returned).
Weathertech cons: It's one big square piece and is not anchored and will move around (I modified this fore and aft with drilled holes and small bungees), more slippery and lighter weight than the factory video shows), if it was a little wider in the front - it would protect the folded seats better (I cut the liner in strategic areas to fold the "spill lip" over for added area protection.
The Hatchbag would protect better, but you lose the ability to open the rear side doors. Also, installation would take MUCH longer each time, and you need to permanently put mounts on the upper edges of the cargo area, doors and front seat-backs.
One bonus of the Weathertech being thinner and lighter than it appears in the video: You can fold the seats up and flip the liner out of the way without removing it.
Not perfect, but the best of what is out there if you want the ENTIRE cargo area usable. There are better liners if you just want to go behind the 3rd or 2nd row seating."

"When I bought my new Pontiac Vibe the rear cargo compartment was slippery plastic, and there were openings in it to the spare tire storage area below. Anything that spilled would have been a clean-up disaster. I love the mat. Everything slides around less, and the lip around the edges is high enough to contain small spills, but low and flexible enough that it moves out of the way if I have to slide something heavy in. Much better."

"This is absolutely the best cargo liner I have ever purchased. The fit is perfect and the color blends nicely with my car's interior. It looks so good I leave it in all the time instead of the carpet liner that came with the vehicle. It is also very easy to clean. I am very pleased with this product."

"As advertised, the cargo liner fit as well as it possibly could. The raised edge was pretty high, not just "high enough". It arrived rolled up and laid down with the roll still visible, but in a few days the roll was gone. I did expect it to be a little thicker/heavier for the price I paid but only time will tell if that really matters. Right now its holding up well to throwing my bike back there. And the raised edges keep dirt from getting under the mat."

"i purchased a weathertech cargo liner in 2002 for my new denali xl and loved it. i just purchased one for my 2005 cadilac srx and it is not as thick. i do not know if the larger liners are made thicker or if all their liners are made thiner now than then. it should be thicker to better support the shape of the lip. for the difference in price may try a husky next time."

"This is my second liner...all my SUVs have them. This one seems a little thinner; however the material seems more supple and consequently conforms to the bed platform of the vehicle even better than my older one. Possibly a bit pricey, but I would recommend it. As a side note delivery time was very good."

"This is my second Weathertech liner. The first one was for a VW Passat wagon. It lasted 9 years and my cargo area looked brand new after 9 years. I bought my next one for a VW Passat sedan. They both fit perfectly, and after my experience with the first one, it was a no-brainer to get the second one. I will be purchasing 2 more, one for my wifes car and one for my daughters car."

"The Weathertech Cargo Liner is money well spent. I installed it in my Acura MDX and due to the recent hurricane in Florida, I had to transport a generator. Upon placing the generator in the vehicle, both oil and gas spilled onto the weathertech liner. Once I was done with unloading the generator, I removed and cleaned the liner. No harm done. Without the liner, my carpeting would probably have been ruined."
