"This door is a pretty nice piece but there were a few minor quality control issues. The 2 small screws, that hold the door stop on, were about .015" too long (or the holes too shallow), which caused the door to not close flush and flop slightly. The door came configured for passenger side installation. There was no mention (in the instructions) about removing the door and moving the little nylon washer to the other side to keep the door centered when installing on the drivers side. I also think the allen screws (that are in the outer ring) should sit more flush and not protrude so much. There is also an aluminum bracket used to mount the door which used two of the allen screws. The screws were screwed into the bracket for shipping. One was cross-threaded. I called the manufacturer who quickly sent a replacement. The replacement also had a cross-threaded screw!"

"The fuel door installation instructions are easy except the 2 screws that hold the door on hit the hummers gas insert, makes it stick out so i marked where they were hitting and drilled 2 holes, made it sit flat and easier to screw down, but diffinitly recommend it..LOOKS GREAT and makes me feel safer when parked anywhere..."

"I purchased the black Harley Davidson door and IT IS sharp! heavy duty and looks great on my 06 Dodge Ram 1500. Tossed my previous Putco cover in the garbage! Installing this door was pretty easy except for one mounting screw and the tight tolerance between the door and fuel well. Only drag is explaining how to open the door the the gas station guys (only in NJ!). Also need to be careful not to damage the spring mechanism when inserting gas nozzle (think I should order a couple spares). I highly recommend this product."

"Overall the quality and look of the locking fuel door are excellent for the price. As with many of the reviews that I read on-line I experienced problems in getting the proper fit with the locking tab on the lock mechanism. This required considerable grinding, bending and dressing of the tab, but I finally got the fit I wanted. Also, the swing-arm for the fuel door on my 2005 F-150 could not accommodate the added weight of new billet aluminum fuel door that well so it sagged some. This may not be the case for other trucks provided they have a sturdy swing-arm mechanism. Since the OEM non-locking fuel door was plastic or light composite, perhaps the only way to correct the sag would be a thinner billet fuel door."

"I got the chrome locking door for my truck and all in all it is ok. The locking mechanism is average. The overall fit is good but it is a little loose and hangs down a little bit... this is probably since the door is more heavy than the factory plastic door. BUT since it is a locking door I was able to take the looseness out of the door by putting a small bit of weather stripping on the outside part of the locking part (grabber) they provided. Installation was simple, just pop the old door off the hinge and attach the new one. Although, if you get the locking one there will be a part that you put through the truck that the door lock will use to grab onto. There is NO DRILLING, you just pull that small rubber part out and you use that hole. Now, here is the hardest part of the install, you have to reach underneath the truck and tighten a nut to the grabber part... for the most part this was impossible but I finally got it (took about 95% of the install time). I truly am a perfectionest when it comes to my vehicle and the fit issue probably won't be a problem for the average person. Other than that the only true con I have about the door is that the chrome is a blurry chrome and not a shiney, clean reflective chrome."

"Only issue was difficulty reaching behind the GM vinyl housing with only about 3/4 inch opening to try to get the spacer and nut on the upper stud that goes through the hole where the original bolt was. [We also had to track down a mm hex bit since it was metric.] The fix we came up with was using a rotary tool (Dremmel) with a cutting bit and just cut out enough of the soft housing (about the size of a nickel) and then it was a piece of cake. Also recommend you put a piece of old carpet, or similar, to catch any dropped nuts or washers since they are hard to find (at least in gravel!). Easier on your knees, too! Fits perfectly and looks really good! Cheaper than letting some punk pour contaminents in your fuel! Also amazed that it was even made in the USA."

"The fuel door installation instructions were read a few times, then I started to actually play with the fuel door and the truck. Installation was not bad. I had to drill (for adjustment) the two holes on the left (hinge) side to make it properly fit in the recessed body area. Lock tite everything. Great door!"
