"I have a black F150 and I thought the black fuel cap would be the more aesthetic choice for me. I should note that the fuel cap is a matte black. It doesn't blend in with the shiny black exterior of the truck. I was bothered by this at first (I was expecting something more polished), but now I love it. Installation is a breeze! The only thing that was a drag was having to modify the locking mechanism. The instructions said that it was possible that the lock would have to be bent or trimmed, and this was the case for me. The lock wouldn't shut until I trimmed about 4mm off with a Dremmel. Sort of a pain, but worth it. I love the product!"

"Sharp appearance. Love the look. Purchased locking door. Would not lock, had to take the locking lever to shop to get grinded down to fit. I was not aware it would not lock with out having special work done. The door appears to be to heavy for the plastic door holder. The fit is just not perfect."

"I had to make some mods too make it fit properly and I was not able to reattach ring that holds rubber protector. Picture description of insatllation would surely make it easier. LOOKS AWESOME WHEN INSTALLED!!!!!!"

"Installed on an 06 Duramax: Installation was not difficult. Be sure all the parts are included so you can make the necessary adjustments for a tight fit. Design leaves something to desire. There are only two small bolts that hold the door in place and is fastened to thin metal. With a locking door, you are looking for security. It takes very little effort to slip a finger or prying device behind the door using the original door access finger-dent located opposite the hing to pull out the door and expose the fuel cap. Modifications have to be made to improve the security of the door. It looks great however."

"I bought a "striker"-type fuel door as a replacement for the regular, chrome billet door, because it didn't fit a 2009 Dodge at all. It had a spring door release that was completely in the way of the fuel nozzle. The new one I bought is a lockable one, without the spring, and it works well. My only concern is that it's installation is done by bolts on the left side, but there is NO attachment on the right - it remains to be seen how it will hold up to heavy, off-road driving. We'll see."

"Door was high quality but the door did not fit correctly. I called the company and the sent me some additional parts in an effort to get a better fit and finish. They were very nice and did try to correct the problem."

"Took about 30 minutes to install and it looks great on my '03 silverado 1500 Z71!!! Only thing is that it doesnt sit completely flush unless you grind down some of the bolts. Overall the quality and looks is awesome!!!"

"Everything about this locking fuel door is great with the exception of the lock mechanism itself. Like the instructions indicate, some grinding was necassary to get a proper fit while locking."

"this is my 2nd of this type/make of fuel cover door. The quality, appearance and fit are good. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Install is easy and requires no drilling. I would recomend this product to a friend."

A nice piece with a few minor problems

"This door is a pretty nice piece but there were a few minor quality control issues. The 2 small screws, that hold the door stop on, were about .015" too long (or the holes too shallow), which caused the door to not close flush and flop slightly. The door came configured for passenger side installation. There was no mention (in the instructions) about removing the door and moving the little nylon washer to the other side to keep the door centered when installing on the drivers side. I also think the allen screws (that are in the outer ring) should sit more flush and not protrude so much. There is also an aluminum bracket used to mount the door which used two of the allen screws. The screws were screwed into the bracket for shipping. One was cross-threaded. I called the manufacturer who quickly sent a replacement. The replacement also had a cross-threaded screw!"

"The fuel door installation instructions are easy except the 2 screws that hold the door on hit the hummers gas insert, makes it stick out so i marked where they were hitting and drilled 2 holes, made it sit flat and easier to screw down, but diffinitly recommend it..LOOKS GREAT and makes me feel safer when parked anywhere..."

"The AMI Fuel Door does not excatly fit the fuel door comparment. The top and bottom sticks out just a little. Other than that it is good. I wish they would offer one that is Black Chrome Finish. It would be great on a Black Truck like mine."

"I purchased the black Harley Davidson door and IT IS sharp! heavy duty and looks great on my 06 Dodge Ram 1500. Tossed my previous Putco cover in the garbage! Installing this door was pretty easy except for one mounting screw and the tight tolerance between the door and fuel well. Only drag is explaining how to open the door the the gas station guys (only in NJ!). Also need to be careful not to damage the spring mechanism when inserting gas nozzle (think I should order a couple spares). I highly recommend this product."
