"THE INSTALLATION WAS A BREEZE.I CHOOSE A LOCKING FUEL DOOR FOR ADDED SECRUITY WITH GAS PRICES CONTINUING TO RISE.IT LOOKS GREAT ON MY COLORADO CREW CAB. THE DOOR STICKS OUT SLIGHTLY AT BOTTOM DUE TO THE DOOR BEING AT TOP OF BED ON CREW CAB AND CONTOUR OF FENDER.NOT BAD THOUGH.STILL LOOKS GREAT!"

Performance and Installation of the AMI Locking Fuel Door

"I received the AMI locking fuel door in excellent condition. Installation took about 20 minutes including removal of the existing fuel door. Installation requires a very short and small wrench to apply the nuts inside the door. This was accomplished using Ignition wrenches some may have to cut down a wrench or buy a very short handled adjustable wrench. It looks and functions GREAT!!!! I have had MANY complements on the looks. Ford does not provide any kind of locking solution for the fuel door or cap at this time on the 2006 Mustang GT. This works very, very well."

"Having nice Cobra wheels,Z Fuzon Tires, ground effects, ventilation scoops, racing suspension, etc. on a 2004 Mustang SVT Special just didn't quite complete me. There was something still missing and it looked me in the face every day. The stupid ass stock fuel door. How many times did I open and close it before I realized it needed specialization. I can relax now and take a breath the car looks perfect. Two minutes to install and voilà."

AMI Chrome Locking Fuel Door review

"I love the look of this fuel door on my GMC Sierra 1500 4wd Ext Cab Sportside truck!! A great product. I only give it 4 stars because the mounting adapter plate that came with it was not quite right. It was either drilled incorrectly (not an exact match for the existing holes), or it was the wrong plate altogether because the door would not fit properly. After an inordinate amount of tweaking i finally got it to fit (not nicely). A job that should have taken 5-10 minutes turned into one that required more than an hour to make it fit. If they did a better job with the engineering/quality control and manufacturing of that adapter plate, this is truly a 5 star product. I highly recommend it!"

"Very easy to install, looks great, locking door is perfect. I was looking for something that would help me protect myself from having my fuel stolen again. Took about 10 minutes to install, hardest part was getting the OEM door off but the instructions included helped. Really loosen the two screws to get the old door off."

"On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best) the ease of installation gets a 10. I did it in 5 minutes and took my time. They even include the square drive screw head tool, but you do need a universal hex driver to put it in. The finish on the polished version is bright enough to not clash with chrome albeit a little duller. Mechanically the only thing I would improve is the opening sequence. If you turn the key to unlock, then turn it back 45 degrees the key stays in. Failure to clock then unclock the key causes the key to slide out and the door not opening due to spring tension. So if AMI tweaks it I'll give them a 10, but for now they'll have to settle for a mechamnical score of 9. Price wise, knowing what the raw aluminum stock and minimal hardware costs, I'd say I paid a premium at $110 for the their CNC milling job. So price is a 7. Careful guys, the Chinese will come up with one that costs $39. So the final score including mechanical and price is an 8."

"Great quality and finish. I recommend removing the metal piece that keeps the fuel door open. It really isn't necessary and it helps the whole piece fit more flush with the body. Easily removable with 2 small screws."

05 Durango

"Nice looking once it's on, but directions were horrible. Had to make cuts to nozzle holder so lock could fit. Screws and nuts were extremely difficult because of length and needed to be cut down. Took close to 3 hours to fit in place and tighten."
