    Description

Replace that flimsy factory plastic tailgate assembly with solid American-made aluminum. AMI's Complete Tailgate Assembly will add strength and style to your rig.

Each Tailgate Assembly is custom-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum with a glossy chrome or polished finish. The Chrome finish is generously plated creating a brilliant, low-maintenance "shwing" that retains its gleam without the elbow grease. The Polished finish requires a bit more effort to keep its shine, but is the ideal alternative for the budget-conscious do-it-yourselfer.

AMI Complete Tailgate Assembly is available with or without keyhole. Thanks to AMI's attention to detail, the Complete Tailgate Assembly installs in about an hour with no exterior modification necessary.

Purchased to replace same handle that had corroded and pitted only after two years. However same matching door handles still look ok. Will be sending corroded handle back to AMI, maybe they will credit me. I treated the new replacement handle with clear coat. I selected these handles to have solid metal not plastic chrome covers.

The handle is nice and solid, no flexing. It looks great. Seems a bit pricy for two pieces and some simple hardware. Installation was not perfect, had to add some washers to line the handle correctly from side to side. Also had a tough time getting the center screw started due to the hole in the backing plate and the nut behind it lined up.

Installation was fairly easy, now I won't need to by a new handle every year.

This is a perfect replacement for the cheap OEM plastic handle. With this design there is no flexing of the handle during actuation. It is very solid and I will buy another one for my next truck.

The new handle looks and works great after some grinding and filing. On installation the handle rubbed and needed some final adjustment of grinding on the back side to stop rubbing. If you buy this handle be prepared it may not be an exact fit and need additional work not mentioned in the directions.

Product looks good and fairly easy to install.. was beyond tired of the OEM handles breaking and losing the trim rings (plastic junk) all the time. This AMI set was an obvious choice. For first timers putting one of these in, two things: 1) wrap the visible surfaces with blue painter's tape if worried about scratches while installing. 2) before putting the trim ring on, take the time bending the OEM handle bracket (may have to take it out of the tailgate 2-3 times) so that the handle is centered left-to-right in the tailgate hole/bolt hole for the trim ring, otherwise the handle will rub on the trim ring.

Handle rubs on bezel, just a little oversized. Had to use part of broken handle to install, but worth it not to brake handle anymore.
