"Easy and quick to install. Good directions. Looks great! Threaded holes in the lid did not accept the plastic tether on my '08 Tundra. I called customer service. They were helpful & responsive and sent me bolts and washers, at no extra cost, to attach the tether. The bolts were the wrong size. :( I used my own bolts. Lid locks well, but can be circumvented by removing entire fuel door since the attaching Allen bolts are accessible. :(" —Eric J from Oxnard, CA bought an AMI Fuel Door for a 2008 Toyota Tundra.
"Fit and finish are excellent. Heavy chrome plating and all hardware are first rate. Excellent workmanship; part should give many years of good service. Looks like OEM equipment, but fuel door is heavy-duty throughout, not like other light-weight parts on the Tundra, many of which look good, but are plastic or thin plated metal. This part may well outlast our truck; and that's saying alot, considering the proven reliability of Toyotas.
Only one minor problem - The longer mounting screws have smaller diameter threads than the original screws that they replaced. Consequently, one stripped out. It would have been helpful if AMI also provided new nylon captive nuts, instead of reusing the original part." —Robert W from Glendale, AZ bought an AMI Fuel Door for a 2008 Toyota Tundra.
"i think there should be a better way to adjust the door locking device meaning adjusting the opening that is left when you shut the door i figured out a way but there shold be some kind of nut or bolt adjustment." —Michael D from Columbus, GA bought an AMI Fuel Door for a 2008 Toyota Tundra.
"Installation was pretty easy. Instructions are kind of vague but once you look at the pieces you can figure it out.
The fuel door looks really good and I am happy with it.
Couple of features make it a little generic in my opinion.
The locking mechanism keeps the door from sitting totally flush so it "wiggles."
And I wish the whole fuel door was held in place by more than 2 screws." —Richard O from Laguna Niguel, CA bought an AMI Fuel Door for a 2008 Toyota Tundra.
"It looks great and installs very easily. You just have to cut off the two little rubber bumps. Highly recommended mod." —Troy W from Houma, LA bought an AMI Fuel Door for a 2008 Toyota Tundra.
"The door looks & works great. Not to bad to install, just took a few times to line the door up with the adapter plate." —Bernie R from Glen St Mary, FL bought an AMI Fuel Door for a 2008 Toyota Tundra.
"In this environment of sky high gas prices I wanted to safeguard my precious fuel and this door was perfect." —Thomas P from Bonsall, CA bought an AMI Fuel Door for a 2008 Toyota Tundra.
"The AMI billet fuel door fits near perfectly on my 2008 Tundra.
The only 2 faults I can find are-
1. the threaded holes provided for you to screw your fuel cap retainer into are too small- you will either need to shave down the nub on the retainer to fit, or discard the cap retainer.
2. If you look really carefully, the profile of the fuel door is sunken in just slightly, and doesn't quite match the curve of the truck body. This is nitpicking though, you have to really look for it :)
Other than that, it fits great and is easy to install. Cheap price for peace of mind- it's not what can be taken out of the tank, but what can be put IN that you don't necessarily want!" —David A from Los Angeles, CA bought an AMI Fuel Door for a 2008 Toyota Tundra.
