The deflector cracked during installation. It was around 28 degrees, which may have been a factor. The clips were also a bit of a hassle. I always buy Weathertech, for all my vehicles. But this has been a dissappointment. 2008 Ridgeline RTL. Plymouth MA

When you use screws to connect two items, you expect to be able the tighten the screws. However, this is not the case with this item on our 2011 Tacoma. However, the deflector appears to secure even though the screws are not tight. Also, one of the pads that are placed on the hood to protect the paint has already come off and we installed the deflector 4 short weeks ago.

When washing/polishing/waxing your vehicle, should the deflector be removed? Is it easy on/off if this is the case? Is this deflector clear, black, smoke, or other? Thanks
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 19, 2013 8:41 AM
Hi, This is a smoke colored deflector that can be left in place for washing.

I am interested in the bug shield and also want to know if there is a spacer that keeps the shield from rubbing the hood while driving, I don't want it to rub my paint off on the hood.

I have used stick on bumper shields. They are about 1/2' round or square and Home Depot has them or any other hardware store. Put the bumper on the hood not the shield. This will prevent any signs of wear with your paint.

I already bought this product and I am pretty happy with the results, however, are there any spacers available to keep the deflector from rubbing against the hood and paint while driving on the open highway?

Home Depot has round or square plastic stick on bumpers that I have put on my hood and they work great. Located in the hardware section of the store.

Hi, Will this Bug Deflector fit a 2011 reg cab toyola tacoma and will the screws fit the hood holes? i need something that pretty easy to put on. Thank you, Paul

I just installed one on my 2004 Toyota Sequoia. There are three ways to mount it - 1) using the screw holes from the original deflector or (the holes do line up but removing the old screws tends to strip out the plastic bushing that the screws mount into) 2) by removing the front grill and and sandwiching the deflector between the grill and the hood or 3) Using the double sided 3M tape. I used option two. It takes a few extra minutes to remove the six screws that attach the grill to the hood but the fit is very tight and ensures the deflector will not vibrate against the hood even at high speeds. The fit was perfect and the deflector looked great. Very happy with the quality, fit and ease of installation.

Hey Paul, I put your vehicle's info into the "Select Your Vehicle" dropdown above and it will fit your vehicle. As far as easy install, it's no drill with 3M tape or screws into existing holes, depending on your vehicle. Thanks, Rob
