When I got the hood protector it look dull. I read the instructions that came with the item. Two things that I changed was it read to removed the gasket on my truck hood. It wasn't needed, the gasket stay as is, in place. It did not harm the hood or the protector. The installation took about 10-15 minutes. The second the thing was cleaning part about the protector, to use only soapy water and a soft cloth. Never to use paper towels, petroleum products or solvents to clean the hood protector.I did one better! I went to the store and got me a can of Rust-oleum Acrylic Lacquer Gloss Crystal Clear in the automotive formula. I sprayed the protector on the front, sides, top and bottom with several coats of spray. Each time letting the coat dry before reapplying. I didn't harm or change the color of the protector. Just now I don't have to be so protected of harming the protector. It has gone through the automated car wash of ready without damages.I don't know why they didn't think about this before already.
