The brake kit was sent with the wrong mounting brackets. Luckily my old ones were in good shape so I reused them. Do no how you can mess that up bu they managed to accomplish that. Rotors and pads were good quality and work well so far.

I bought these because I am hard on the brakes and always warping the rotors. I had the worst pedal and steering wheel shake, and I haven't felt anything since. I don't worry about going down hills anymore. Spend a little bit more and you will be amazed. Simple to install

I would like to know how the power stop brakes stand against rust. Bought some before on line and after one year they were all rusted.

    Answers (1)

Answered by Nathan S. — Friday at 8:00 AM

Hi John, The vast majority of rotors are made from iron, which by nature will rust. If you get these rotors wet, the surface will rust, but braking is generally unaffected as the surface is cleaned on the first brake application.

What is included in the front brakes kit/ rear brakes kit?

I'm asking this question because I want to know the difference of what is included in just the front kit/rear kit, compared to the 4 wheel kit? It would be cheaper to order the front/rear kit separately than to buy the 4 wheel kit for my car model. Don't make sense to me when it's practically the same thing.

    Answers (1)

    Staff Answer

    Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 26, 2013 1:54 PM

Hi, The 4-wheel kit includes all 4 brake rotors and matching brake pads to do the entire car. The front kit includes just the front rotors and front pads & the rear kit includes the rear rotors and rear pads. The reason in the pricing discrepancy is that a 4-wheel kit is not available for the 2.5i model, but the front or rear individual kits are. It's actually cheaper to get the 4-wheel kit than the front & rear kits individually. It's your incentive to get everything at once.

Hi, Yes, you can turn slotted and drilled rotors. There is a myth going around that you can't, but it's based on untrained brake lathe operators using dull cutting bits. Any respectable shop that maintains their equipment can successfully turn a cast iron rotor.

Hi, The rotors use standard cast iron construction and can be cut the same as any rotor. It's a myth that slotted and drilled rotors can't be resurfaced as any rotor has low spots where the brake lathe bit momentarily loses contact with the rotor surface.

I have a 1998 Lexus GS400 and the website lists K1149, K1077 and K1079 as the options to choose from. What is the difference between them and which one should I choose? The prices almost double between K1149 and K1079

    Answers (1)

    Staff Answer

    Answered by Nathan S. — Jan 21, 2013 10:21 AM

Hi, The 4 Wheel kit (K1079) includes both front and rear rotors and pads. The front wheel brake kit (K1077) includes only the front brake rotors and pads. The rear wheel brake kit (K1149) provides only the rear brake rotors and pads. Sometimes just your front rotors or your rear rotors are worn and need replacement. Drivers who want to upgrade their braking system tend to purchase all 4 rotors at once. I hope this helped.

Hi, Your Oldsmobile came with two rear brake options from the factory: rear disk brakes, or rear drum brakes. In many cases, the rear brake style changes the design of the front rotor used. Only front rotors will be included with this kit and make sure to determine which brake style is on the rear of your car before ordering.

Hi, The old-school way used to be jacking the rear wheels off of the ground and spinning a wheel over by hand. If the wheels went the same direction, you had a limited slip differential. Newer limited slips can be trickier to pinpoint though. Your safest bet is to locate a metal tag on the differential. This will say "add limited slip additive" which confirms a limited slip is present or the stamping numbers on the tag will give it away when provided to the dealer for identification.

    Answers (1)

    Answered by Anonymous — Nov 26, 2012 12:28 PM

The squeal from brand new brake is not always normal, there may be a problem with the hardware (anti rattle clips, shims, etc.). As far as the stopping power goes, the vehicle may need to have the brake system bled to ensure optimal pressure is always being applied. I would have the shop look at the brakes again.

Front / rear rotor size difference

Hello, I am looking to buy this font/rear kit for my 2007 Mazda3. When you look at my car, my front rotors are clearly larger than my rear rotors. Does this kit also have larger front rotors?

The Power Stop rotors will be the same diameter as your factory rotors. They provide better braking performance through the use of slots and drilled holes to aid in cooling.

Grooves in the brake rotors can be from multiple causes such as uneven hardness in the pad formulation of dirt getting in between the pad and rotor surface. Even rotors with grooves can be machined as long as they remain within the indicated specifications stamped on the rotor hub. A slotted rotor has machined grooves to aid in cooling and cleaning of the rotor surface.

I purchased the power stop brake set.. had them installed on my 2009 VW Routan. Yes they stop great, BUT i get an awful groaning noise when i have a heavy load in the van. I have never felt it would not stop, but the noise is scary to say the least. I had the van back to the shop they checked everything... can find no problem. Has anyone else had this experience? If you did what did it take to fix the situation?

As brake pads use different formulations to balance wear and stopping power, it is possible to have an abnormal amount brake noise when compared to your factory pads and have a properly operating braking system. A more likely and common occurance would be brake noise is caused by harmonic vibration between contacting metal components in the braking system. It is important to lubricate the caliper pins and apply an anti chatter compound to the back sides of the brake pads if they did not come equipped with anti-chatter backings. Most shops will only inspect the brake system for leaks and pad/rotor thickness as this does not require disassembly of the braking system.

If your factory pads have a sensor cable embedded into the pad compound, yes. Otherwise, you will have to reuse or replace your factory sensor wire.

I think they need to be 11.8" and the ones I received from another supplier were 10.3". Needless to say, I'm sceptical about purchasing another set online

Thank you for contacting AutoAnything for your automotive needs. I do offer Power Stop rotors and they are currently available for the 550i for 2010. That being said, I also offer the EBC Sport rotors that are slotted and cross dimpled. Matched to a set of EBC Red Stuff Ceramic pads and you will have a stout brake set up to get your BMW stopped faster. I have included a link below to the EBC brand rotors and pads. They are indeed direct fit and will be the same size as your OEM rotors and pads. Thank you.

While we do not carry brake drums or shoes, we do carry drum to disc conversion kits for limited applications. I'm afraid that your Escape is not one of them.

Unfortunately not as the rear disk brakes will be quite a bit different than the front design. Most rear disks tend to be solid without vents, much thinner and if they are a drum-in-hat design have a provision for the parking brake shoes. Unless you have built a serious race car and plan on going from 150mph to zero as fast as possible, rear disk brakes may not be needed on such a light car and. Keep in mind that your front rotors provide 75-80% of the braking force.

There are two different types of pad wear sensors; the kind that is embedded in the friction material and the kind that can be removed and changed. If your vehicle uses pads that have sensors embedded in the friction material then they will be included. If your sensors can be removed and reinstalled you will not need new ones. You can just reuse the factory ones.

Any hydraulic system will not function very well with air in the lines and the brakes on your car are no exception. When retracting the brake caliper piston, the bleeder screw can be loosened to prevent damage to the seals. Just make sure to keep the master cylinder full of fluid at all times and make sure to follow proper brake bleeding procedures.

Where are the pads and rotors made?

    Answers (2)

    Staff Answer

    Answered by Nathan S. — May 17, 2012 11:17 AM 2007 Toyota Matrix

The quality of a brake rotor is more a question of where the finish machining is done. Most manufacturers start with a blank rotor that is cast overseas but under the supervision of the brake company to make sure they use the correct alloy and quality control standards. The fresh casted rotor is quite rough looking and needs a well trained machinist to shape the rotor. So your answer is, while the rotors are casted out of the USA for cost purposes, they still need the skill and expertise of our machinists to create a quality product. When you see "made in the USA", it means the product was finished here even if the process started elsewhere. Pads are usually made in the USA because of the secrecy that goes into each manufacturers brake compound.

If you're using the stock rotors now and these replace the stockers and still use the OEM calipers why wouldn't they. If you downsized the wheels then they might hit the calipers but a replacement rotor is the exact same size as OEM, just slotted and/or drilled.
