EchoMaster Dolphin SonarStep Hitch Backup Sensor Reviews

So far, so good

Reviewed By Dave S (Grass Valley, CA) Reviewed for a 2006 Toyota Tacoma —12/24/2011 6:46 AM

Installed fairly easily once you figure out whether to use the spacers or not. I'm still in the "trust" stage in determining how much to rely on this versus looking over my shoulders. So far it's been useful more for smaller parking lots to avoid accidently bumping into another car when pulling out of a spot. I'm finding that the sensor goes off in my small garage and stays on once I'm past the walls and out. Once I stop, it stops. I don't understand why it stays on past the point of exit but that's the only fluke I've noticed so far. There's two ways to dull the beep volume and I'm using both as it's louder than it needs to be. Overall I like it's practicality and that it utilizes the hitch that I had no other use for.

Good value

Reviewed By John C (Saint George, UT) Reviewed for a 2008 GMC Sierra —4/28/2014 8:14 AM

I bought this camera to assist in hitching up to my toys. Camera works good. Only complaint would be the deficiency of directions and options of powering the camera. I was hoping to power the camera by taping into the back up lights, but with the single cable of wires it was a little more than I wanted to tackle. I hooked the camera to my Edge CTS and installed a small switch for power. Works good and a lot less expensive than the EDGE Camera.
