Wheelskins Leather Steering Wheel Covers Reviews

Fantastic look and feel!

Reviewed By Robert K (Aptos, CA) Reviewed for a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle —8/27/2010 9:43 PM

I just finished installing the wheelskins genuine leather steering wheel cover on my 63 VW bug and it looks fantastic. I chose the cover to help give the thin, stock steering wheel a thicker look and feel. Well, I can tell you that it provided both of those benefits plus, it covered the pealing grip. I'm very particular when it comes to my bug but the sand color was a perfect match to the original off-white interior. It's important to follow the directions on the stitch pattern and really give the line a good tug so the cover is nice and snug. The only somewhat challenging parts are around the spokes, but it just takes a little foresight on when you want to start looping the line around the front of the spokes in dummy stitches. It's thankfully easy to correct errors by just unstitching - I ended up not being quite happy on how I'd crisscrossed some of the line around one of the spokes, so I did that spot over again. The install will take the typical person about an hour to do and is well worth it. I would suggest that you use a pair of light gloves as the instructions recommend because I cut my finger while pulling the cord tight. You'd really be hard pressed to tell that the cover isn't OEM unless you really knew what the steering wheel is supposed to look like. As I said before, I am pretty picky on what goes into my vehicles and I would definitely recommend this if your steering wheel needs.

Factory steering wheel was slippery -Wheelskin is perfect!

Reviewed By John R (WEST LINN, OR) Reviewed for a 2014 Hyundai Elantra —1/28/2015 10:17 AM

Installed a cobalt/black perforated Wheelskin cover on my Hyundai Elantra GT. Looks beautiful, feels excellent - grippy but not sticky, with some cushion for my grip, and it sticks to the wheel like it was glued on. Installation is a bit of work. Read the directions a couple of times, and even watch some YouTube videos. I did it outside on a 50 degree day, and didn't get the leather stretched completely over the thumb rests. Be sure to do it when it's warm! I'll redo mine when it's warmer.
