Energizer Battery Charger & Maintainer Review

I've recently purchased two of these chargers to tend the batteries for two quads, one mower, and one Kubota tractor. I've cut off the battery clamps and crimped ringlets to be able to permanently plugs on all four batteries. I simply rotate the two charger boxes every week. After riding a device, I need to wait at least 24 hours before connecting the charger to that device as the battery won't accept a charge ... causes the charger to flash. I've not had a problem with either unit ... in my opinion, good product.

I had two chargers from another company that worked great for several years, I replaced them but the company had changed brands and they lasted about a month. When I saw these from AutoAnything I thought I would give them a try. Especially with AutoAnything's liberal return policy and customer service. The chargers are well made were easy to hookup (they have a long cord) and come with everything you need if you want to leave a connection in place. Great product and great price.

Units work very well. Used 3 of the four I bought, 2 on my boat batteries and one on my Pontiac Solstice that has been in my garage since last November. Took 2 days to slowly charge all the batteries and get the green light.

Trickle charge for backup generator battery

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.

Reviewed by David M (Chester, NJ) Reviewed for a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix — Feb 14, 2012 9:42 PM

While typically used for motorcycle batteries, I needed a charger under 1.2 Ah for the starter battery on my backup generator. This seemed to do the trick, and looks to be energy efficient as well. It has two plug in connectors, one for screwing on to the battery terminals, the other could be used to slow charge another battery if needed.

I needed to keep the battery in my '39 Ford charged up or it would die. Since it will not be running during the winter time, this charger/maintainer is just the ticket. Other brands sell the accessories seperate, but this unit comes complete with which ever method you prefer to attach it.The light is green, which means it is at full charge.

I have it plug into my Mustang for the winter. Winters in Illinois get cold. I will know more when I get into the Mustang in the Spring and see if the battery will start the car. So far so good. C.L. B

Charged my battery right up after it had discharged. Don't know exactly why but it always seems to be charging mode. Got what I paid for.

    Battery Attachments could be better

Reviewed by John F (Moses Lake, WA) — May 13, 2011 7:14 AM

I am using the charger on my boat battery. The attachment with rings does not work on the threaded post because the ring hole is too small. The threaded post is an industry standard for boat batteries. I expected the ring to fit. The spring clamps are pretty cheap. The plastic on the handles falls off easily. Should be glued on. The charger itself appears to work as expected.

    Battery charger differences

What is the difference in the 1A, 2A, and 4A units? I am planning to use this to maintain a Mazda Miata over the winter storage. Is one unit better for this than another?
