Great system

Posted on 02/13/2007 by Chase M. - 2005 GMC Sierra (New Bern,NC)

"The flowmaster american thunder kit was the probably the easiest and least expensive system you can get, but the quality is great I had no trouble installing the system. I have a flux core welder at the house, so I mounted the exhaust, clamped the pipes where they needed to be put a few spot welds on and then took it off and finish welded the rest. All of this was done by myself with the truck on the ground thats how easy it was. Sounds great just what I was expecting from flowmaster and I've always liked my pipes exiting before the rear tires. Highly recommend the kit."

"Very easy to install. Less than an hour from cutting off old muffler to crawling out from under truck, Done! Welding a little longer. Great sound and noticeable performance improvment. Sound level, in cab, plesant at freeway speeds. If you want your big block to bark with athourity and back it up with sizzle, this is the system! Looks great too. ."

"Easy to install. The directions were very good. The only issue was that the front muffler clamp had 2 nuts instead of one. When I loosened the first nut and couldn't remove the muffler i finally found the second nut. I added an intake sustem as well and I'm getting 2 to 3 miles per gallon more. I was hoping for dual outlets, one on each side but it turned out to be duals on the same side, not what the picture shows."

flowmaster single side exit

Posted on 01/22/2007 by Clifton M. - 1999 Chevy C/K 3500 (Paradise,TX)

"I had to have a local shop make me two adaptors to connect my 2.5" pipes to the 3" inlets of the mufflers, but once that was done it went on without too much trouble. The exhaust is loud but it doesn't resonate in the cab, and throttle response inproved quite a bit."

2004 Silverado

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"I bought this system just before Christmas, on the 22nd, received it on the 26th...Good Job AutoAnything. Now for the Exhaust...If you like loud growling exhausts...this is for you. My 5.3 doesn't know it isn't a Big Block 427 yet. It sure sounds it. I noticed a power gain...well acceleration went up a bit...I assume it is helping the engine exhale much easier. The exhaust burbbles at Idle like an old muscle car, and growls above and to 3000 rpms...Past that, it sounds like a friggin' jet on up to the shift points! At highway speeds (1900 to 2200rpms), interior resonance is high...very high...at 65 mph, on long hikes, it does get old, may even make you sleepy. The drone is so bad, panels buzz moderately. It only does it at said rpms, that I've noticed. At throttle let-off, around 2000 rpm's, it does do a little crackle and popping noise...occasionally. The tips are chrome, I assume and are not that noticeable to most people. I was at a gas station filling up after terrorizing the small town I live in (echoes off buildings down main street). An old man was filling his Silverado, next to mine, I finished and fired that bad boy up and he nearly $h!t his pants...he was startled as it growled to life and echoed under the gas pump overhangs...All I could do was laugh and burn rubber out to the road! The muffler, I should note, was not black as advertised, but I don't care, you don't see it unless you look under the truck a lot. The other thing to note is that on the Chevy system, is how close the mandrel bent pipe comes to the driveshaft...about an inch of clearence. I haven't noticed any rubbing, and I don't suspect there would be, you would have to be off-roading heavily to do that...On the street, you should have nothing to worry about. Passing on the Highway is fun as well, as those tips fire right at passed motorists...They get startled and give dirty looks and sometimes fingers...all the better for me. Install was easy and painless...to bolts come undone and rubber mounts get slipped off, and you ca"

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"the system went on fairly easy, but I'm not satisfied with the rear mount for the exhaust. doesn't seem to have enough strength. the drivers side rear mount doesn't sit in the right spot so i have to check it now & again to make sure it's not loose. As for the sound of the exhaust.... It's perfect. Just the right note!!"

Awesome!!!

Posted on 01/06/2007 by Christopher P. - 2005 Dodge Ram (Sabillasville,MD)

"Installed this system on my 2005 Dodge Ram QC 4x4, and it sounds and feels great. I don't even notice it when I am up to cruising speed and have my radio on. For the first couple drives, I would leave the radio off and listen to the sweet music coming out of these pipes. When I crank it up in the morning or stomp it out on the strip, everyone notices. A Perfect blend of quite rumble and loud roar when you want it. I didn't want to become hypnotized on a longer trip by the hum and this is it. Also for me, this particular system was built for the HEMI. Other systems have caused back-flow problems that caused issues with the engine and computers. I had it welded and new tips put on, as the flowmaster tips were to tiny for my taste. Autoanything was awesome too, price matched it and shipped it free, here in 3 days. Thanks. Chris P. "I'm very pleased with the Flowmaster cat-back dual exhaust system. Very easy to install, and the fit was perfect. The sound is just what I was after: aggressive during acceleration, but interior noise not much louder than stock when cruising on the interstate. As a plus, I'm getting an extra 1-2mpg improvement in mileage."

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful.

"I am a flow master fan. I am also a fan of a thunderous muffler system. Although this system is not as loud as I thought it would be, it has the right amount of "thunder". In the RPM range of 1400 to 1800, the interior sound is pretty substantial. After that, the muffler begins to quiet down. Cruising at 75, the interior noise is next to nothing. At first I didn't like that, but after taking a 1000 mile trip, I have fallen in love with the sound at the various RPM ranges. As far as installization, I agree with other's comments that it is more difficult to remove the stock system than to replace the flowmaster system. Installization was relatively simple -- it took me about 3 hours completely by myself without any real strain. I was a little disappointed with the alignment of the two tail pipes but I am probably the only one that notices. After installing and using the system for about a month and after a long trip, I would definitely purchase this system again. If you want wide open sound, this is not the system for you but if you want a good sounding flowmaster system, I would highly recommend this system"

Not very happy with how this system went in.

Posted on 11/08/2006 by David K. - 2005 GMC C/K 1500 (Houston,TX)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"First problem: the dual pipe did not align with the muffler at all. I took it to a muffler shop and they had to break the weld to get it to fit. So now it doesn't look so good from underneath. And I had to pay $100 bucks to get it fixed/installed versus the claimed easy home installation. Second problem: the pipe upstream from the muffler rests on the cross brace that runs underneath it and rattles. I do love the way this pipe looks on my truck and the sound is not the best I've heard, but is good. If I didn't have to spend the money to get the pipe fixed, it would have been one of the best values available."

"This exhaust sounds great, it's no V8 but it's up there. I bought it for improvement in fuel economy and for power and haven't really noticed and improvement in economy and little in power. Paired with a K&N intake it runs great despite the little power increase. I'd recommend this to anyone with a 6-banger looking to get a throaty sound."
