Quality product! I had the system installed by a muffler shop so cannot comment on installation portion. I was concerned if this would be loud enough. It has the deep bass and you always know when you are on the gas. My truck sounds like a hot rod if I am really on the gas. There is a deep tone at certain speeds when it goes down to 4 cylinders. It's not bad but I can tell now when this occurs. I believe I have a little more power in lower and mid-range. Haven't tested mpg yet.

This system fit together very well. I will admit that the sound was not that much different at idle. But when you give it some throttle, it definitely has the deep, big block, throaty sound I was looking for. Unfortanately, that may negate any potential gas savings because I can't resist....

Ordering and shipping went without a hitch. Installation took about an hour start to finish. All pipes, hangars, and clamps were quality and fit exactly in factory hangar locations. No modifications necessary. Sounds great! No issues when AFM kicks in. Haven't checked if there is a change in mileage as of yet.

I purchased the single side swept system about a month ago, I purchased this with the Black Metal Mulisha tip put the system on my h3 as soon as it arrived, installation was pretty easy but I recommended having an extra set of hands I installed it on my own took me about 3 hrs, removing the oem system was the hardest part, as for sound its not too loud but it gives it a nice aggressive exhaust note and dont worry it sounds nice, I was a bit worried that it would sound like a Honda Civic ......

This is a good exhaust system. I had a 4.0L sohc v6 1999 ford explorer and it fits good. Sounds good too. The sounds get deeper as you where in the muffler a little and get it heated up too.

Got the system in about a week. As with other reviewers, getting the stock system off without help or cutting was a bearcat. I painted the plain-steel w/ Hi-Heat paint. System went on smoothly. Used thread-locker on all clamps and bolts. Cranked her up and Wow..what a difference. Mellow idle-burble, and when I put my foot in it, again..wow. Mid-range power and torque way up. The O/D shiftpoint changed (more pull). Sounds great, improves performance. Great value. Mileage not evaluated yet.

I read a lot of reviews on several different performance exhaust systems. My main concerns were cab drone and overall performance/sound of the system. Gibson nailed all of them. No cab drone, and when coupled with my cold air intake, sounds awesome with noticeable giddy up. I recommend it highly.

is there a place for the o2 sensors? if not what do you do with them?
Answered by Nathan S. — Nov 02, 2012 3:28 PM
Hi, With a cat-back system, the exhaust system bolts behind the catalytic converters and has no impact on the location of oxygen sensors. DPF and downpipe back systems listed are for diesel trucks and are designed to fit in the factory location with no modifications.

Does the swept side system exit in front of the rear tire or after like the factory? Not crazy about front side exit.

Hello. I was wondering has any info about how the Gibson exhaust sounds on chevy 5.3 flex fuel engine when the engine cuts back to four cylinders? I used to own a 2007 Avalanche and I installed a MBRP catback exhaust system, which I liked the sound of it UNTIL the motor cut back to four cylinders and interior drone noise was a bit annoying at speeds of 70 and 80. Anyway I was hoping this system wouldn't sound like a Jake Brake from an eighteen wheeler when the motor cuts back to four cylinders. Can anyone answer this that has this exhaust?

As far as sound goes, if I install the cat back side swept single exaust on my Chevy truck and find it too loud, what are my options? Can I also install a resonator tail piece or something? I hate to hear a roar at highway speeds.

Any performance exhaust system will be louder than a stock system due to the muffler and pipe design. If too much noise is a concern, I would advise you to stick with a system that either exits behind the rear tire or under the bumper. Its hard to tell how loud the kit will be for your truck because it varies on the application but you do have an option if your system is louder than you would prefer. We sell individual mufflers such as the Flowmaster Big Block series which have no interior resonance and a mild performance tone. They come in several sizes, so be sure to provide our sales representatives with the dimensions of your factory muffler.

is stainless really that much better than aluminumized? or is it just shinier and longer lasting?
Answered by Nathan S. — May 04, 2012 10:18 AM 2011 Ford F-150
Your are correct that it is indeed shinier and lasts longer. Stainless systems are great in areas with lots of moisture or where road salt is used.

You will always see better mileage with a free flowing exhaust system over your factory system. A common increase in fuel economy is around 1-2 MPG.
