1)Had a check engine light on, bad converter. 1k for OEM cat opted for Eastern Cata, good price and waranty. Took 3 hrs to remove old cat,(14 years of rust do to salted roads). 30 min to install, fit perfect but had to get 3 new bolts not included. There was skeg in 1 sensor bushing, tapped with screwdriver popped out. Reused old sensors, passed emmissions test. Ordered Fri got on Tue, came with all gaskets, should include 3 bolts. Overall, very pleased with quality & fit. Need it? Buy it

I bought an Eastern direct fit because it had a great warranty and direct fit. AutoAnything had a great price and shipped quickly. The cat came with gaskets but were too big and did not seal. Gaskets I bought from the auto parts store were the same size so I had to make some. The cat to exhaust manifold angle was slightly off but after torqueing down on the studs it finally sealed. My car now runs much better.

Although I was unable to install it myself as I am mechanically inept for the most part, it was a relatively easy install from what I saw. If this is what you need, my opinion is do not hesitate to buy it. I stumbled on this website and it was the best thing to happen to me in regards to buying something I need.

My subaru mechanic told me that the reason the aftermarket cats are so much cheaper than the oem ones is because they aren't packed with platinum. He also said that the lesser quality material usually melts within the first year of the install, leaving owners needing a new cat. Can you elaborate on the material it's packed with?

Hi, It's a myth created by tuners who have a habit of letting raw fuel enter their exhaust systems (which will destroy any cat, factory or aftermarket). The Easter Catalytic Converters are packed with the same precious metals as your factory unit, since the catalyst wouldn't be effective enough to meet emissions standards without the right quantity of precious metals. If our aftermarket cats didn't last, we would have tons of return calls for them, which we simply don't have.

Will this be an easy bolt on replacement for me? What gaskets will I need to buy in addition to the cat? Does it have 2 O2 ports as the OEM?
Answered by Nathan S. — Mar 04, 2013 8:47 AM
Hi, The converter will fit just like you stock unit and will include gaskets IF replacement of them is required (some gaskets are 1-times use only while others seal perfectly fine when reused).

Why cant your cats work in California?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jan 18, 2013 2:42 PM
Hi David, New emissions regulations for many states (and growing) are CARB emissions. This was created by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and is far stricter than emissions standards of the past. Even though the Eastern Catalytic converters technically work fine, they haven't undergone independent CARB testing which is extremely expensive for aftermarket accessory manufacturers. If a part isn't tested or fails, the part is not CARB certified, not given executive order number and cannot be used on public roads and highways of states that have accepted CARB standards.

For a 2003 SATURN VUE 3.0L (6cly) can you list all the parts needed to replace the whole exhaust system including catalic converter. Does that connect to exhaust manifold and all the way back?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jul 16, 2012 4:56 PM
This product is actually just the front and rear catalytic assembly with the associated tubing. They connect to the exhaust manifolds and terminate before the muffler.
