Gibson Headers on '98 Dodge Ram 1500 w/ 5.9 V8

Reviewed By Thomas H R (Henderson, NV) Reviewed for a 1998 Dodge Ram —11/6/2009 9:12 AM

Performance showed and immediate increase in torque and horse power. The sound is quite pleasing w/ existing Flowmaster exhaust. With the tuned headers, the cylinder beats are more separate. It's too early to judge efficiency (gas MPG), but that depends, I'm sure, on how it is driven. Removing the OE manifold was easy, but bolting on the new headers was made difficult only because bolt access was severly limited. Fit was very nearly perfect. It bolted right in except for previously mentioned limited bolt access. If I had to do it over, I would.

Best stainless manifold for the price

Reviewed By Rhett R (Ramah, NM) Reviewed for a 2006 Dodge Ram —12/15/2015 10:39 AM

I'm not a big AFE fan, and looked hard to find a solid stainless manifold elsewhere. But all my research kept leading me back to AFE. They have a quality design that will last for the life of the truck. So if you are looking to improve your exhaust flow, lower EGTs, have a place to put your EGT temp sensor, then this is probably the best manifold for the 5.9L.
