1997 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder (2.3 liter) My old original catalytic converter had a crack right across the middle and could not pass inspection. I found the Magnaflow converter pipe at a good price here at AutoAnything.com and I have used Magnaflow products in the past on other vehicles with good results. The fit and finish of the pipe was good with clean welds and quality steel. The only problem I had was in the installation. The worst part of the install was that the bolt holes in the cat. converter flange that connects to the exhaust manifold were wider than the holes in the manifold flange. I had to drill out both holes by almost an inch to make a slot in the flange so the bolts could line up. Since they did make it out of good thick steel the drilling took me a while and really dulled by 1/2 inch drill bit. Also the flared end of the pipe that connects with the exhaust manifold was a little larger than stock. It worked but for it to seal correctly and not have any exhaust leaks it had to be in just the right position. I had to use a bottle jack to keep the pipe in place until I could tighten down the bolts. I am fairly sure this was not just my truck since the 95 - 97 Ford Ranger 2.3 all have the same exhaust manifold.
