Magnaflow Catalytic Converters - 49 State Legal Reviews

Reviewed By Thomas R. F (MC Carr, KY) Reviewed for a 1998 GMC Sonoma —9/1/2009 5:00 AM

The old converter was loose inside and making a terrible sound. Magnaflow advertised that it was a direct replacement; no modifications. WELL IT IS! EXACT FIT! I ALSO INSTALLED A GIBSON EXHAUST: CAT BACK. I noticed that my engine runs slightly cooler, and at acceleration I can feel a difference(not neck snapping but it seems to run better). I was impressed with the quality and the workmanship, it is excellent. Time will really tell, but by the appearance of the converter it looks like it will out last the truck. A couple years back I had the converter replaced at a muffler shop and it hasn't lasted that long: the price was well over $150. LISTEN, IF YOU NEED A CAT BY ALL MEANS BUY THIS ONE, HONESTLY!

Eastern Catalytic

This unit solved my issue in passing the California Smog Test... A 1992 5.7L is as clean as any new car today! (HC= 14/7, CO=0.03/0.02; NO=299/34) WOW! I should have replaced my old Catalytic Converter & O2 Sensor units first and stop worrying about the test results.

Flowmaster 98 Jeep XJ

Reviewed By Todd J (Oshtemo, MI) Reviewed for a 2000 Jeep Cherokee —11/7/2015 3:33 PM

The cat itself is well constructed, with sleeve fit into existing exhaust. Small notch cut-out was needed to fit across preexisting metal tab on my 98 Jeep XJ. CONS: Clamps included were of questionable quality (one broke during install with hand tool); I separately purchased heavy duty clamps, which provided good seal.
