Catalytic Converters

On a daily basis, your auto spews out all kinds of pollutants.
Catalytic converters are there to catch those noxious fumes and change them into less harmful emissions before they leave your vehicle. Most vehicles are equipped with three-way catalytic converters, named appropriately to combat the three most harmful emissions: carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. Inside a catalytic converter is a set of passageways that are coated with catalysts to spark chemical reactions while still allowing gases to flow. Within converters there are two types of catalysts at work: a reduction catalyst and an oxidation catalyst. During these stages the harmful pollutants are transformed and the oxygen extracted.
So, how will you know when you need to upgrade your catalytic converter? It's difficult to tell if it has become clogged, but sometimes you may feel like your gas mileage has dropped, you don't accelerate faster when you press on the gas pedal, or perhaps you're stuck in a fast idle. But, the best way to check is to remove the converter and test the engine alone.
AutoAnything has catalytic converters for nearly every year, make and model. So, if your Dodge Ram or Ford Windstar seems sluggish now, watch your ride cruise down the street with faster acceleration with a new catalytic converter from AutoAnything.
