Let's get to what the readers want to hear - - - It's a good value for the BUCK. Sounds like the on-line demo. Easy to install with just a few tools and app. 2 hours of your time. Installation instructions, 1) Don't cut your stock exhaust system. You can easily remove it by a few simple steps. a. remove right rear tire b. remove right rear shock c. remove right side U-bolts & lower differential. These three simple steps allows enough room to remove the entire cat-back system in one piece. Reminder #2 - Wipe down the Stainless before firing up. This will ensure a good look, stains from installation could burn into the stainless steel pipes. Tip #3 - Alignment, take your time and look at it several times.Enjoy KeithEnjoyKeith
Removing the old manifolds was the most difficult of the project. One stud on the passenger side was very stubborn and had to be heated and cooled. I would recommend gently cleaning the threads with a tap before installing the headers. There was only one bolt difficult to install and that was the rear driver's side. The hole was not as clean as it could have been and finger starting was difficult to say the least. I have driven less than 100 miles so I cannot really tell if there is any fuel economy improvement. There seems to be a little power increase but that maybe only psychological. They are much quieter than the leaky OEM manifolds, and with the MagnaFlow exhaust system the truck sounds authoritative.
I purchsed the super 44 stainless steel and it looks great with everything else (SS) underneath. I didn't install it myself, so I can't quote you on ease of installation, also regarding this was only part of an system that Ive mixed and matched together for my own customization. The muffler itself is pretty decent. There is not a lot of noise in cab unless the gas is really smashed down, but outside she roars well. Its been a month and engine response is maybe, but I have seen a slight increase in my mileage(mods). The only downside I have for this muffler is that with just the muffler replaced it wasn't as loud as I thought it would be. But overall I recommend it.
Tried the Walker Exhaust p/n 16098 Catalytic converter first for my '96 Toyota Camry LE 2.2L. It had a miserable little metal shield on it that rattled and sang like someone playing a saw. Also, the opening into the converter where it connects to the exhaust manifold was oval, not round resulting in some strange (and loud) harmonics when the engine was under load. The Magnaflow 50801 was completely different. It was the same shape, size, and construction as the original Toyota converter - had a round opening into the catalytic substrate and no miserable little metal shield. Great power, quiet, no rattles or hums and looks exactly like the Toyota part, except it's not stamped with Toyota. Very happy with this product.
What a great tip. Looks really hot. Really EASY to install. Going from 3" in to 4" out may be too much for some but I like it. There's also a 3" in/3.5" out for those folks. Didn't notice any significant difference in sound, but then I bought for looks.
In my opinion, the Magnaflow muffler is the best on the market. Granted a little more expensive then some others, but you get what you pay for. As for performance, it's there also with minor restrictions due to the straight through design. I dropped off a Flomaster 80 series off my 2000 TA and went to a 4" cat back with the straight through magnaflow. The 454LSx CI engine, CAME ALIVE ! The Flowmaster had too much restriction. As for noise, not much more then the old Flowmaster. I even put a set on my Dump Truck with a 427. Even it seems to run better, not to mention sound better !2 Thumb's up !
The exhaust has a great tone even though it has not yet b broken in. Its has a nice rumble at idle and low RPMs and is not annoying loud when gunning. The exhaust is also very low profile looking almost stock till you see the size of the pipe the coating you can tell it wont rust and the polished look is very classyHowever the direction did not state that with 2008-2010 Lancer you will have to replace the existing bolts on the mid pipe. It would have been helpful to know that and know the size of the bolts. another note if you have your windows down for the first couple of days after instillation you may smell a weird smell dont worry its just protective oil that the exhaust was coated in it will go away in a few days.
I installed this system on a 2010 Ram 2500. They didn't have one available for it but the one for an 08 fit just fine. I had no issues at all, everything went on great. Would have been helpful to have an extra set of hands. Jack stands work but not the same as having another person help hold/turn things where you want them. Havn't noticed any gain in mpg, but they system sounds good and I'm sure it has helped some. For those that say the old exhuast is hard to get off..........just split it with a grinder or cut off wheel and it will slide right off. My neighbor has an 08 ram 2500 and is getting ready to order on of these and have me put it on for him. I've gotten alot of complements on the sound since I installed the system. Great stuff.
I installed the Gibson Swept Side Exhaust on my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, and wow what a difference in the sound and performance. The tone is a little bit of a lower rumble, and while it is a little bit louder up above 3000 rpm, it is not a significant difference from stock. Stepping on the gas emits a louder growl of the engine, and you can definitely feel an increase in horsepower (although dont expect it too much, it's not turbo boost). Enough to make passing easier and let the engine breathe a little better. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 was that it was more difficult to install than the instructions led me to believe. I would recommend that if you are a novice, have it installed by a local muffler shop.
I bought this system because I heard it was the best exhaust system for the modern turbo-charged diesels. I am absolutely pleased with my purchase. When complemented with a cold air intake, the power gains were substantial and at low, medium, and high RPM's. I really love the quick turbo spool-up with the low backpressure and high air flow the MBRP exhaust system provides. I thought about buying the turbo-back system, but I wanted to be a law abiding citizen and keep my ride street legal; but don't let the catback system fool you....the performance gains were incredible. Virtually no annoying "drone"...just an aggressive, yet civil tone, and massive air flow! Thanks autoanything!!!
