Fit Well...Smell An Issue

"We purchased a pair of Hexomat Floor Mats for the front of my wife's 2002 Honda Civic EX Coupe. Other reviewers have complained about the smell of this item, and our experience was similar. My wife did not want the mats in the car right away due to the "aroma", so we set them in our yard to air out. After a week, the smell had dissipated enough to put them in the car. The mats fit well, with only a few small gaps around the perimeter. They appear durable, and hold plenty of liquid (we had a lot of rain while the mats were outdoors, and they had a whole LOT of water in the hex cells). Overall, I recommend these mats-just be sure to let them air out well before using them."

Dakota floor mats

"This is my second set of hexomats. The first set for an 06 Impala fir perfect. This set for an 03 Dakota was a little off on the passenger side. The back seat set was one size fit all for all Dakota models. For my extended cab style they are a little tight. Over all however I still like these mats. They work very well in holding water/snow and look good in the vehicle. I would still purchase them again."

"These mats do exactly what they advertise. They fit well, they catch a lot of crud, and they're pretty competitively priced. The rubber that they're made out of, however, smells like...well, a mix of burning rubber and mary jane. I let them air out in my garage for a week before installing and the smell in the vehicle is still pretty bad. It's tolerable, though. Just something to be aware of."

"I would have preferred Weathertech or Husky Liners but they are not available for the Passat and others were too expensive. After installing them my opinion has not changed, I still would have preferred the others. The mats do not have a raised edge to hold all the junk that gets tracked in, winter in MN will be the true test. If you order these mats let them sit out of the box in your garage for about a week for the smell to dissipate, it is nauseating if you don't. I read other reviews and didn't heed the warnings! The verdict is still out in my opinion."

"Great mats but not so easy to install. i bought the one piece mat and went to put it in and had a hard time to get it to fit. After a bit of cutting and pulling they fit and look great too."

"Just received item. Appears as advertised. Does have a rubberlike odor and I am giving it time to air out. Impressed with how well it fits my older car. Shipment was prompt. If it proves durable, I will likely purchase another."

"The mats work well. Easy to install. They don't scrunch up. BUT they stink!! They stink like burnt rubber. If the car is closed for any time the mats stink worse. And if it is hot out, the smell is even worst.The company does tell you to air the mats out but that doesn't help."

"Overall, I am happy with these mats. They look good and were reasonably priced unlike some mats. My only criticism is that the edges are unfinished. In other works, there is no border all the way around the mat. Instead, it looks like the mat is just a sheet of rubber with hexagons on it cut to size. As a result, it does not give that custom made look that more expensive mats with borders have."

"The Hexomat seems pretty good so far although my truck smells bad. The smell is less strong but I've had the mat for two weeks now. It fits pretty good but it seems as though it was cut a little big in some spot. I'm hoping the smell will go away and maybe with time it will start to conform to the floor better. Overall it is a good product."

"Installation was easy. The fit was close. A little trimming has the liner fitting much better. After 3 weeks, the liner still stinks, although the smell is somewhat less now. I like these mats. The quality appears to be good. Items do no slide around as much. Overall, these represent a very good value. NOTE: The Hexomat and Lloyd RubberTite mats/liners are very silmilar. The patterns are a bit different. I could not recommend one brand over the other. Similar fit, similar quality."

"Cargo mat for the Town & Country van gets lots of wear with dog crates being moved in and out of the vehicle. Hexomat is performing quite well: the kind of performance I get from my Herding Champion Border Collie at our training facility, Lion Rock Ranch, San Juan Bautista, California. We train dogs for competitive events in the American Kennel Club's herding program. "

"I tried the Hexomat Cargo Mat for my MINI Cooper. It only covered the small trunk area near the back hatch. Not a good price value, so I returned it and bought one for a Honda Pilot. I cut it to fit the MINI trunk as well as the area when seat backs are down. Now, that was a good price value, but installation took measuring, cutting and time. It looks good and the quality and weight of the rubber is very good. It needs to air out to rid the car of the rubber smell."

"After a week or so of driving with the windows down, and several days with the rear hatch left open at night, the smell of thecargo mat has almost gone away. Other that small inconvenience, I rate the mat overall Excellent."
