Description

When you equip your rig with the Painted Headache Rack, you don't need a flatbed to safely haul ladders, lumber, pipes and other oversized cargo. That's because this workhorse headache rack boasts extended vertical uprights to contain your longer freight.

From the inside out, the Painted Headache Rack is built to withstand the rigors of real-world working conditions. The frame is wrought from heavy-duty 1.25", 16 gauge boxed steel tubing. And, steel louvers run across the length of your rear window, shading the sun and guarding against cracks. The top louver is split to make room for your cab-mounted brake light. For select trucks, there is an optional gap down the middle of the louvers for rear-window access.

Your custom-made Painted Headache Rack bolts securely onto your top bedrails. And, you have the choice of either white or black powder coating, which carries a 6-month warranty. What's more, the workmanship and materials are backed by a 3-year warranty.

Good headache rack for the money. Seems strong enough, had two issues though. One: The louvers are kinda flimsy, they will bend easy, but I guess it will protect the back window. Two: The universal fit, leaves a little to be desired. Ordered for a "96 Dodge Ram, the double wall bed doesn't allow access to the holes you will have to drill to secure this unit. I ended up bending the stake pockets (after a massage withy a cold chisel) to access the rear bolts. The front bolts are a different story. I swapped out longer bolts and after drilling through the inside wall of the bed I could get at those little devils. My next move is to cut the mounting feet off and weld some on that work for my Dodge. Since I'll have to remove it to load my camper, just to make it easier.

Shortly after receiving this headache rack it was installed next day. Installation went well with little to no trouble. After installation it was noticed that one of the cap plugs was missing from one of the side bars. So we fabricated a plug to fit in the hole. With no plug there it would collect rain water like crazy so we used clear silicone to seal the cap plugs up. Other then that there are no complaints and has done well so far.

The overall quality of the headache rack is good. Fitment after installation is good. The instructions were not legible at all, however and I was dissapointed with the system that I had to use to attatch the rack to the bedrail. There was no way to avoid having to run a (supplied) cheap carrage bolt through the hole in the side of the bed. When tightened, the bolt bent and has to remain at a funky angle in order to stay secure.

I purchased the Go Industries Painted Headache Rack on 01/02/10 via phone after experiencing some problems with the Auto Anything Web page. Three days later UPS delivered the rack to my home in New Mexico. Pretty impressive. The box containing the rack was torn by the protruding mounting brackets, and I was concerned that the mounting hardware would be missing. Luckily no such thing. Installation took less than an hour since the only thing required was drilling four holes for the bolts that secure the rack. I was surprised to learn that the four bolts firmly secured the rack, and equally impressive was how sharp the rack looks. The Go Industries Painted Headache Rack is well constructed, looks good, and the price is very reasonable. I would, without reservation, recommend the rack to anyone looking for a well constructed, sharp looking headache rack at a very reasonable price.

The rack arrived quickly, in two days, by UPS ground. It installed quickly and easily although it required drilling two additional holes in the bed rail because the holes that lined up with the stake pocket was clear at the back of the mounting foot. It seems very sturdy against forces going forward but very weak if the force is to the rear. It looks good. I'll just have to be sure not to secure anything to it that will pull it backwards.

The rack is great. The instructions are not the greatest. The bolts were not quite long enough. But it si a great value and looks good.

This headache rack is really great. It looks good and the utility is great too. The only problem I had was the instructions and mounting hardware. The instructions were hand written and had very poor diagrams. You will be amazed - I thought it was a joke! Also the mounting hardware was impossible to use. The bolts included were really not optimized for this setup. I just used self-tapping screws and bolted the thing into the bed rails and it's holding up great. I had to run to the store a few times for screws/bolts ect. but once you have supplies that you can use, install takes less then one hour with two people.

Had to drill holes into the bed to get it on, but overall, very nice. Looks awesome on the truck as well!
