Two panels had to be removed, but the lock itself and it's mechanics were pretty simple install. One-hour effort and works great.

Drawings were inadequate at best. Had to physically bend interior bracket for spring action to work as intended. After three tries it functioned correctly.

Very easy to install, inside parts are made good, lock itself is plastic mounted and very easy to break need it made out of steel. The locking part of it needs improvement.A little pricey for what it is.

The pop & lock shown and advertised is NOT the lock I received. It took approximately 1 hour to install. The instructions are poor. The quality is poor. The locking mechanism behind the exterior lock is PLASTIC and it connects to the interior METAL locking assembly. I don't like connecting plastic to metal. Usually the metal will wear down and strip the plastic in the long run. I've had the lock for 3 weeks now, it does work and serves its purpose by locking the tailgate door and protecting the bed cover for now. My main concern is that I will try to unlock the lock in the future and the locking mechanism will be stripped and unable to open the tailgate door. I don't feel comfortable with the pop & lock.

The Pop & Lock for the Honda Ridgeline is quite complicated due to the dual opening tailgate, however the installation is very easy and straight forward. The only issue I have is the materials used in the product. I would prefer to have a metal connection with tapped holes rather than self tapping screws into plastic. If there is a failure of the plastic locking mechanism which connects to the linkage, the tailgate may not be able to open. Bottom line though, it works.

This is a good product with good quality and easy installation. My installation took less that 45 minutes. The majority of that time was the time it took to take off the tailgate end cap and cover and the re-installation. The lock works very well.
