Have had 2 Toyota tundras that had this built into the hinge and were hidden. Really got use to it and liked the feature a lot. When I got my F350 I was missing the feature and drop the gate a lot out of habit. Found this for $30 and it's worth every penny. Just wish it wasn't exposed but for $30 if it gets damaged or worn out, I will definitely buy another one. Kit even came with installation tools and great instructions.

This is really a great product that works, so far, exactly the way it was billed. Install was easy and everything went together as planned.

Had to install a second one on the other side of tail gate - the tail gate is too heavy for the assist. I have a tail gate with a built in step which is heavier than the standard gate.

Works better than hoped for. Takes practically all the effort and weight out of raising and lowering the F250 tailgate. I should have ordered one years ago. Excellent product and value plus simple installation.

Works as advertised. Really helps to slowly lower the very heavy tailgate. Made one modification to installation. After reading many reviews concerning the tailgate assist, instead of using the existing hole in the tailgate, which is elongated, drilled a new hole which helps to more securely hold the insert.

The only problem I had with the job was the tool used to unscrew the star screws.it would be nice to have a that to get enough leverage to loosen the screws.
