Whether your pickup is fresh off the dealership lot or a little long in the tooth, its tailgate is likely suffering from an age-old problem: premature opening. You know the symptoms. Every time you pull the handle, it crashes down against your bumper, your fingers or your Weimaraner's skull. To cure what ails your truck, install the Dee Zee Tailgate Assist and never fear a flaccid hatch again.
As simple as it is genius, the Dee Zee Tailgate Assist adds a heavy-duty shock absorber to your stock tailgate hardware. Every time you open up your tailgate, the Dee Zee Tailgate Damper is there to control how fast it drops. And, unlike those flimsy screen-door dampeners, Dee Zee uses only premium components that can withstand constant use and abuse.
You and your drill might be best friends, but you won't have to dust it off to install the Dee Zee Tailgate Assist. It's completely custom designed to bolt into place and play nice with your stock hardware. And, the Dee Zee Tailgate Lift Assist is backed by a 3-year warranty.

The tailgate assist was easy to install after I got the insert to open. There is a piece that goes into an existing hole in the tailgate, similar to a drywall wall anchor. Mine didn't want to expand, it just spun around. I was able to open it a little with a vice and a screwdriver, and then it opened just fine. Ten minute install, and now no more dropping the tailgate.

After seeing one of these on a friend's truck I thought I had to have it. I have a '13 King Ranch and this was one more item to increase the WOW value of my truck with all of it's top of the line options. It was the best price and definitely the fastest delivery! The installation took about 15 minutes. Now I can carry a load in one hand and open the tailgate with the other and let it gently float, hands free, to full open without dropping. Ones you get in the anchor for tail gate.its easy. It said to do 3/4" turn in I recommend 1/2" or it came lose.then you have to screw it back in and tied the Alen wrench. After that it's easy. Works great and it helpfull.
