We are confident there is an Auxiliary Light especially for your needs. Just a few simple questions and we'll offer you the right Auxiliary Light in a matter of seconds.

1. The first question to ask yourself is whether you will be using the Auxiliary Lights Off-Road, On-Road or both?

The following chart lists the Auxiliary Lights and their appropriate usages. If you plan on using your Auxiliary Light On-Road AND Off-Road, we suggest purchasing an On-Road Auxiliary Lights. Please review your local laws regarding the use of Off-Road lights on city streets.

2. Which Type of Light Beam Pattern do you need?

There are five different types of Light Beam Patterns that Hella Front Auxiliary Lamps provide. The types are: Driving Bean, Euro Beam, Cornering Beam, Pencil Beam, and Fog Beam.

Driving Light Beam Pattern is designed to increase the range and brightness of your vehicle high beam Lights. It is especially useful at higher cruising speeds where they help to identify signs and hazards long before they could be seen with your conventional factory high beam lights.

Euro Light Beam Pattern is an exceptionally strong white light, nearly as bright as daylight! Light range for this single beam is up to 1,500 feet long and 250 feet wide. Each light angles upward to the right which throws light onto the side of the road, making it much easier to see street signs and pedestrians. Ideal for when you need a bright light that has a semi wide footprint. This light is designed to supplement the original high beams, which extends the field of vision for a safer drive.

Cornering Light Beam Pattern is designed to improve your front and side vision especially in extremely tight curves, serpentines, and intersections during maneuvering operations.

Pencil Light Beam Pattern is designed for maximum distance with a narrow, intense, and extremely long stream of light. Light range for a single beam is up to 2,500 feet long and 120 feet wide. Pencil Beam lights are usually recommended for racing only.

Fog Light Beam Pattern will improve your vision in fog, heavy rain or snow by enhancing your vehicle's low beams. The low and wide light pattern improves side visibility and prevents stray light from offending oncoming traffic. The distance of illumination is similar to your vehicle's original low beam.

3. What is the difference between Halogen and Xenon (HID) bulbs?

Halogen bulbs - Halogen bulbs are similar to incandescent bulbs in construction, but not in performance. The halogen bulbs filament is allowed to burn at a much higher temperature in an atmospheric vacuum, radiating a much whiter light. The presence of active halogen compounds (containing bromine and iodine) better regenerate the tungsten filament, making these bulbs last longer. Halogen bulbs perform at a higher, consistent output throughout their lives.

Xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) - The advantage of Xenon HID bulbs is a lighting performance, which nearly matches that of daylight using considerably less power consumption than conventional halogen bulbs. The technology employed to manufacture the HID bulb is based on the gas discharge principle, where, instead of light being created by electricity passing through a filament, and arc of light is created between two electrodes in an extremely small tube filled with non-active gases and metallic vapors.

Standard Halogen bulbs cannot be replaced by HID bulbs. A ballast unit is required to support HID bulbs.

4. What Types of lamp reflectors are available?

There are three different types of lamp reflectors that we offer. Hella's Parabolic, Hella's Free-Form (FF) reflector, and Hella's DE projection Reflector.

Parabolic Reflector - Light distribution is determined by the size of the cover lens. The bigger the lamp, the more light is dispersed. With this technology, stray light is a side effect.

Free-Form (FF) Reflector - Contains 50,000 reflector points that directs light precisely. The reflector alone distributes the light, which means the light is evenly spread. There is no stray light.

DE Projection Reflector - A projection type lamp. It has more power despite smaller light aperture. Hardly any stray Light is produced.
