"As a replacement for the original equipment, this was easy to install. The most difficulty I had was determining the (+) and (-) leads from the car. Once I tested which lead was "hot" and "neutral", then it became a 1-2-3 installetion. The mirror itself looks very similar to original GM equipment. If I didn't know any better I would say it was.
The price for this unit was reasonable too. After looking around on the internet for the exact match of what I took out, I would have paid 2x the cost. For a car that is up in years and mileage, this was a deal!!!
I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend it to anybody looking for a replacement automatic mirror. And if you're handy with tools and know what you are doing with wires, then this is a good 30 minute project."

"Warning! Even though this is sold as a VW Passat replacement mirror, if you have the VW rain sensor wipers, this mirror will not fit your setup without some serious rejiggering. I used it by gluing another mirror anchor to the windshield next to the rain sensor and splicing the connector to to the VW wiring.
It obviously doesn't look OEM, but it doesn't look ugly, either. In fact, for most people it's probably not even noticeable.
I am very happy with the functioning quality of the mirror, and of course, the price when compared with the VW cost of about $275, but it's not something you just swap in without spending some expertise, time, and energy."

"I tried to save time by looking for wires in the overhead console that I could splice into. This added about an hour to my time, and finally decided that none of the wires were satisfactory for this install. Then I decided to follow the directions and do as they recommended, which went smoothly and I finished in about an hour.
Very straight forward.
I recommend purchasing the wire cover. This gives the installation a much better appearance, more like an OEM install.
I am pleased with the appearance and operation of the mirror. I would recommend it."

"The "Gentex K2" mirror is well made and looks almost identical to the factory mirror installed on Lincoln's LS. The Gentex auto dim feature reacts quicker than the factory auto dim mirror. However, the Gentex installation manual wiring instructions is for someone who is making a conversion from a regular mirror to an auto dim mirror. The kit doesn't include instructions for replacement of a factory auto dim mirror. Lincoln's do not require to hook-up Gentex's wire harness. The factory plug-in housing which holds the wire pin connectors were removed and placed into Gentex's."

"Twist the old mirror base to the left, it comes off. Unplug the cable. Modify the mirror button (part glued to the windshield) as per instructions - you need your thumb and a screwdriver. Plug in the Gentex, mount, tighten with torx driver. Done.
I gave "Good" scores as it's my son's car and I don't drive it so can't directly comment on quality, though it looks good in the car. As always, i wish it was less expensive - I don't know why these things are so pricey but this is a lot less than getting one from subaru."

"The original OEM dimming mirror failed with the fluid material leaking out over time. Thus the wiring for a new unit was already in place. Had some dificulty removing the original mirror where the clip retainer was hard to pry off. Wiring harnesses between the old and new units were not compatible so there was some splicing and testing required. Reinstallation was very simple with the new mount utilizing the wedge plate on the windshield. It is a very fast reacting dimmer mirror. Better than the OEM. Would recommend to others."

"This is a great mirror. Looks great and performs well. It was somewhat difficult to install in my 2008 Honda Pilot EX-L. The mirror mounts on the windshield without too much trouble and that part went quickly. Wiring was a different story. I had to find the Honda instructions online for installing the mirror and connecting to the 12v source. For the Honda Pilot with the moonroof the 12v source is located under the headliner near the passenger's side sun visor. To get to it you have to remove the map light assembly and the passenger side visor. Even then it was very difficult to access the wires that I needed. In hind sight it probably would have been easier to run the wires all the way to the fuse panel for the 12v source. I think this mirror would be a snap to install in vehicles where the wiring is more accessible. I'm very happy with the mirror overall. Hope this helps someone!"

"This mirror is way more than I expected. It dims automatically and goes back to clear when there are no headlights to blind you. No more fumbling around with a clumsy lever which is either full on or full off. It was a breeze to install in my 1994 Corvette. I simply removed the header cover, removed the old mirror and spliced in the new one. It was very simple. The whole process took about 30 minutes, including removal and replacement of the header trim.
The quality is outstanding. The color when dimmed is a nice blue which is easy on the eyes. The field of view is larger than my old mirror. I would highly recommend this mirror."

Great direct replacement mirror

"I ordered this mirror from AutoAnything because my factory mirror stopped working. Though this mirror looks a tiny tiny bit different than my OEM mirror (a single power button instead of the Ford "Off" and "Auto" buttons, but the mirror works as well as, and as fast as, the ORM mirro), it is none the less a direct "drop in" replacement item. A harness is included if your car doesn't have an auto dimmer already installed, but the harness is exactly the same as the factory harness which means the mirror will plug in the same way as your OEM mirror (at least it was in my case with a correct year Ford style harness). Total time to install was approx. 5 minutes."
