I ordered this mirror for my 2002 Subaru Outback. The instructions in the kit on how to remove the OEM mirror fail to mention that some of the mirrors are installed by cam-lock. By twisting the whole mirror assembly 90 degrees, it will pop out. Also the kit includes an adapter to use the OEM cam mount but does not include instructions on how to do it. If you are not mechanically inclined or have trouble have someone help you or have a mechanic install it.

Mounting this mirror on a Land Rover Discovery II was not as straightforward as the instructions implied. Removal of the existing mirror requires the user to pull straight down on the OEM mirror with a fair amount of force. The Gentex instructions were to rotate the OEM mirror until it released, This could never work on the Disco II. Installing the foreign auto adaptor required reshaping/bending the enclosed spring until it could fit around the installation button without spreading. Although I was able to make this work by changing the shape to that shown below, the end result was not as secure as I'd like. Given time, I will manufacture a new custom fit spring. Spring shape: _______ | | | | |__ __| | | | | _| |_ The mirror itself works well and looks very good.

2001 Subaru Legacy Outback. The adapter plate which was nicely included did not fit -- I had to repeatedly grind out (widen) the backside until I could get it to go down far enough to attach one of the two screws. A single torx screw holds the mirror to the adapter plate & I was worried that I would spend life with a jiggling rearview mirror because I could move the entire mirror back and forth about 1/4 inch with my hand. Thankfully, the potholes around here do not make the mirror move at all (so far). All in all a good purchase, but if I didn't already have a Dremel & a bit that could do the job, I would have been a little less happy.

Twist the old mirror base to the left, it comes off. Unplug the cable. Modify the mirror button (part glued to the windshield) as per instructions - you need your thumb and a screwdriver. Plug in the Gentex, mount, tighten with torx driver. Done. I gave "Good" scores as it's my son's car and I don't drive it so can't directly comment on quality, though it looks good in the car. As always, i wish it was less expensive - I don't know why these things are so pricey but this is a lot less than getting one from subaru.

Had real problems with the mounting kit for the cam style mirror adapter. Had to find screws to fit and cut threads properly. Also directions and pictures were vague.Mirror should dim a bit darker and activate bettet under low light conditions. Other than all that, I love it.

The mirror works great. It responds/dims very quickly to approaching headlights. I enjoy turning the mirror off just to notice how very effective it is. Installation was very simple and easy.
