The auto dimming feature works great, as does the temperature sensor and compass on the unit I purchased.
When backing out of the garage on a bright, sunny day the mirror dims quite a bit which is unwanted in most cases. But there is a handy disable button on the front of the mirror to temporarily turn off the dimming feature (which you won't need if it's real sunny, anyway). You can then re-enable it when you're outside. Or if you forget to re-enable it, a power cycle of the mirror (turning the car off and then back on again) will reset the dimming feature to 'enabled' (which can also be annoying if you want to turn it off and actually leave it off ... each time the mirror powers up the dimming feature is enabled, whether it was previously disabled or not ... there is no memory there).
All in all, I'm very happy with this device.
