Garbage cans and other bumper smashers have met their match: the Echomaster Dolphin SonarStep Hitch Backup Sensor.
With its 7' range, this stealthy hitch backup sensor detects objects before they collide with your bumper. The hitch step fits in any 1 1/4" or 2" receiver and draws power from your vehicle's 7-way tow adapter or the included wiring harness. Then it sends auditory and visual alerts to the wireless receiver plugged into your 12-volt cigarette lighter. The distinctive lights and tones indicate the objects distance.
Your Echomaster Dolphin SonarStep Hitch Backup Sensor comes with everything you need—even a locking hitch pin and anti-rattle pad. Plus, it's backed by a 1-year warranty.
Our 10+ EchoMaster Dolphin SonarStep Hitch Backup Sensor customer reviews have an average rating of 4.50 out of 5 stars. To see specific reviews about your vehicle, please select your year, make and model from the drop down above.

Easy install in 3 minutes. No wiring with 7 pin hitch connector. Extra parts for just about any type of wiring are included. Seems to be appropriately sensitive when backing, but a louder alarm would be better.

Works as stated. Perhaps not as well as a more costly item, but it gets your attention and may prevent a costly accident. I have a non honda hitch so I had to have it installed using the included wiring harness. All in all an okay product.

Have had factory backup sensors in other vehicles - bought this for my 2012 Ram 1500. Shipping delivered it quickly and the install literally took minutes. I immediately started using it and it works as good as my previous factory sensors. An added bonus is that is doubles as a step! Barely notice it's there! The tones are easy to discern and the accompanying lights add awareness while backing up. Stop looking start backing up confidently!

I love this back up hitch! It was very ez to hook up...just plug and play. It makes parking so much easier, and if any rug rats run past ur six in a parking lot...it picks them up on the radar. Had this for two weeks now, and I wouldn't want to drive without it!

will this work if I don't have a hitch?
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 26, 2013 11:37 AM
Hi Richard, You would have to custom mount the EchoMaster Dolphin SonarStep Hitch Backup Sensor if you don't have a 2" receiver opening to work with.

Hi, I have a 2011 Cadillac SRX with 2" receiver. I have an adapter to go from the 4-wire square connector to a standard 4-wire flat connector common for smaller trailers (1 exposed, 3 enclosed pins). Does this unit connect to the 4-wire flat connector?
