Nothing puts a crick in your back and a pain in your knee like climbing in and out of your pickup's bed, especially when you're making multiple trips. Instead of putting your body through the ringer, give yourself a big boost with the Bestop TrekStep Retractable Tailgate Step. This ingenious tailgate step is spring loaded, dropping down 6" when you need it and tucking up under your bumper when you don't.
Whether you're hoisting hay bales into your payload or simply reaching for the cooler, your Bestop TrekStep Retractable Tailgate Step is sturdy enough to handle any task. This pickup truck tailgate step is forged from heavy-duty aluminum with cast aluminum brackets, giving it enough muscle to shoulder up to 300 lbs of dead weight. Plus, the step surface is coated with a non-slip texture for sure footing even in foul weather.
Best of all, your Bestop TrekStep Retractable Tailgate Step mounts on the side of your rig, so you can use it with your tailgate door open or closed. The step was easy to put on and took only 30 minutes. The motion of the step is as promised and lining it up where I wanted it was easy. I will purchase the sidestep and power board as well. These are great products and I only wish I would have bought them sooner. AutoAnything matched prices and it was delivered quickly after ordering. I will definitely purchase from them in the future. I am going to have to reinstall with spacers provided as it is a little to close to the bumper sometime soon.

A great design, very simple to operate both down and back up. I would suggest having someone help you when it's time to bolt the unit up to the frame. With 4 hands, it's a simple 10 minute install.

The Bestop Trekstep is well made and strong. It is easy to install. The problem is it sets at an angle on the truck when folded up. The pictures show it setting straight. I have contacted Bestop to see what can be done. Everone who see it has commented on it look funny sitting at such an angle.

Have had this only a month, but so far quite functional. I used to have an Ford OEM version that came out of the tailgate. This is much better, easier to open, doesn't hang up when sliding out, doesn't require your hands, and there is no buldge in tailgate for post (you can use the truck rails as a handle with this unit). There are some shims that can be used to adjust the hieght a bit. However, not easy to check hieght without really completely remove/install. 30 min install.
