Ease of installation was great due to the brakets fitting the Nissan mounting studs exactly. I was missing some hardware, which I'm sure I could have gotten shipped, but it was easier to just go out and buy the bolts needed to finish the installation. The driver's side running board has a small defeat, but it is on the lower side of the running board. I didn't want to hassle with returning and waiting for a replacement, since I had already installed the passenger side running board.

The 50 minute suggested install time turned into 3 hours. I broke three bolts off trying to tighten the running boards so they wouldn't slip. the holes for the speed nuts were to small and I had to drill the holes out. One of the tabs broke off the speed nut before I could secure it with the bold. Over all a frustrating experience.

I like this product. Looks very nice and solid. I had a problem with installation, because of the defect bolts (or nuts). I ended up buying additional bolts and nuts to complete installation. other than that, I'm happy with this product.

Installation was somewhat easy after installing the first one and the second one installed with no trouble. Be careful not to strip the stainless steel bolts. Look and quality is better than others that cost more.

I installed the running boards on my 2013 Jeep Patriot and it couldn't have been easyer unless someone eles installed them. I did have to add an additional small bracket on the forward end. The additional bracket was due to the Jeep being weak at the forward attaching point.

Like others have said, the directions are not very good. I looked at them and took them directly to my mechanic. Took them 3 hours to install both boards. I was there the whole time and can say that they were working the whole time. If you install them the way the directions say, they are flimsy. More for appearance than function. Mechanics drilled some holes into frame to strengthen the boards. Way more work than they advertise. Look good once installed though.

What do the 2" extenders do? What do they extend, the distance outward from mounting or the height from the ground distance?
Answered by Nathan S. — Mar 19, 2013 7:32 AM

I have a 2012 Dodge Ram Crew cab.Does a crew cab have to be specified and the frame where I think it would have to be secured is farther in from the side of the truck than it looked to be in the video. So I woulg guess there is a larger bracket.
Answered by Nathan S. — Aug 09, 2012 4:02 PM
Thank you for your question, The Romik Running Boards will be specific to the cab size of your truck and will include the correct installation hardware to simplify installation. The pictures and videos listed may not represent your specific truck but are a sample of what to expect during the installation in most cases and a generalization of how the product fits.
