After a year of searching, I am thrilled! My initial concern: I have a diesel truck with the DEF tank under the passenger seat. The retracted step is much more visible than the gas version. I was worried the black bottom would be a stark contrast to the white truck and would look horrible. I was WAY wrong. The step blends in with the frame behind and looks great. Installed myself in a few hours. No problems! My kids and wife are happy to have easy access and I keep the clean look of my truck

Love this product. Running boards arrived as scheduled and well packed. Installing motors on running board braces and mounting to frame - easy. Routing wiring harness - not too bad or fairly easy. Tapping into the existing cannon plug wiring of the truck w/ pozi-tap connectors was the most difficult part of the project. Also get extra heat shrink connectors for the LED lights. 8 are supplied (exact amount needed), and I screwed a few up due to substandard wiring/crimping pliers. Best...

I love my new amp power steps. It is easy for my wife and kids to get in my truck and I get to keep all of my ground clearance. If you have a truck like mine make sure you have your security code for after install. You will have to enter it into the radio after you hook your battery back up or your vehicle will be disabled until you do.

After lifting my truck the complaints from my wife and kids made me purchase these boards. I hated the look of the sissy bars and regular running boards are hideous. When I came accross the power boards, I thought this might work. Easy to install minus the poor instructions on wiring. Took me about 4.5 hours to complete. I like these boards, just wish they tucked under the silverado like the ford. Very high priced, but I think a divorce would be more expensive.

LOVE these steps. I have a GMC Sierra Extended Cab and was a little worried when the steps arrived and the box stated "For Crew Cab", but after reading the instructions you simply need to remove 7" from the aluminum step boards to fit the extended cab. No worries, the steps are very easy to cut and still look great when you re-install the step end cap. Overall the best modification I've done to my truck. And Wifey likes them too!

I really enjoy these running boards! The most time consuming part was getting the boards wired correctly into the door ajar wires. Other than that I like the runnning boards a lot!

Hi Orv, The top of the bar is full exposed when you open the door of your truck so you have plenty of space to step on and they run to the ends of the door openings.

Do these clamp to the frame of the vehicle? Any drilling required? Any splicing into factory wiring?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jan 25, 2013 11:53 AM
Hi, This is a bolt-on product and will require minor wiring. The installation instructions are pretty clear and easy to follow according to other customers who have installed the Amp power step running boards.
