Many of the other steps I reviewed were held with just bolted to the underframe but Hoop II provided a solid bar that connected both bolting areas and distributes the weight evenly and will, in my opinion, outlast the other step products.

Looks aren't everything. Thankfully I've got fabrication skills. I had to rework the mounting brackets to make them work on my '96 F-250. The holes were drilled wrong. Other than that, they look god and seem sturdy enough for my 225 pounds.

Installed a pair on my new to me 1996 F150. There was an issue with the installation. The instructions were obviously written by someone who has never installed one of these steps. The first instruction is to assemble the bracket to the step. The second instruction is to mark a couple of holes that cannot be accessed when the bracket and step are assembled. I'm sure that anyone willing to tackle the install themselves will figure out a work-around.

CARR Hoop II truck steps are perfect for my truck. it's too-tall stance made it rediculous for my 5'2 wife to even think about getting in. These steps look great, function just fine (I'm a big fatman too...250 Lbs...or more), no matter what anyone else said in the reviews, they were installed on my truck (both sides) in less than 1 hour. Unless you are totally inept with a drill & wrenches these are the way to go! Autoanything is the place to get 'em too..best price & fast delivery too.

My 1997 Ford F350 was a little too high for most people to comfortably get in and out of. I didn't want running boards or nerf bars, since they are quite expensive and not the look I wanted on the truck. I found these steps here at AA at a very reasonable price, with an additional $20 off and free shipping. Per the previous reviews, I made my own template before starting the install job. Just layed down a completed step/bracket on some poster board, outlined it, cut it out and punched holes where I would need to drill. Was a snap once I got out to the truck! I did have to increase the drill bit size for the metal screw as it just didn't make it through at 1/8". Other than that, went very smoothly. Used silicone around the brackets as the instructions recommend, which I picked up at Home Depot. I love the look and usefulness of these steps, and have been getting compliments on them since the day they were installed. Great product, great price, and way fast delivery, thanks!!
