"2004 Ford Expedition
These bars are of good quality and seem relatively sturdy, but there are a few things I would point out...
First, the ones pictured are connected with two mounting bars towards the center. The ones I received mounted on the ends, with nothing in the center. I was disappointed when they arrived to find that they weren't as pictured. Needless to say I decided to keep them rather than screw around trying to return them. After they were mounted, the mounting isn't really noticeable, as the bars only gap less than an inch (if that) from the vehicle.
Also, like another reviewer, I felt the instructions were quite lame, amounting to little more than "Install the front brackets in the front and the rear brackets in the rear". It was really annoying to try to figure out which of the 4 brackets went where, as none were labeled. So all in all, the 1st side took me 2 hours, the 2nd side, 15 min.
Also, please note that the rear brackets didn't bolt directly to the frame, rather they connected to holes in the bottom of the rockers. If yours are rusted and weak, you may want to drill your own holes in the frame for better support. Mine were because apparently there had been previous bars that were removed. The front brackets used pre-existing threaded holes, but I had to re-tap mine because they were rusty.
Tip-Have a big piece of cardboard or carpet to set the bars on before mounting so you don't scratch them on the concrete or asphalt." —Daniel V from Rochester, NY bought an Aries 3" Round Nerf Bars for a 2004 Ford Expedition.
