Difficult to install

Reviewed By stephen B (MEDFORD, OR) Reviewed for a 2002 GMC Sierra —4/4/2013 12:11 PM

I installed the running boards on my new (to me) 2002 GMC PU. I like the price and the looks. Drilling and bolting the brackets was easy once I figured out that I had to bend the skirting down with vice grips to get the bolt through the skirt. But installing the bracket with the supplied self drilling screws was impossible. I ultimately ended up using pop rivets. The first side took 4 hours to finish. the second side 1 1/2.

How I like the new Westin Running Boards?

Reviewed By Ivan S (Owls Head, ME) Reviewed for a 2002 GMC Sierra —5/12/2011 5:26 PM

My son just got them hooked up tonight and they look great. They feel good when I use them and they won't rust out like the previous ones. I am older and quite short so it was hard to get into the truck after we had the rocker panels redone until I got these new running boards on. They won't let my foot slip off as quick as the ones we had previously.

Excellent

These boards are great. Truck had fixed running boards but were to high and to close to the body. These running boards give the truck a clean look and lower down closer to the ground, about splitting the height of the truck, making it a more natural step in. Installed in four hours with removing the factory boards. Install was relatively easy to install, running and supporting the wiring is time consuming. Plug and play is the only way to go.
